Saw a video review and I can confidently say the boot looks 1.5 times the current gen. Also I see there is provision to set the recline angle of the last row seats, which mean we can definitely stuff more soft bags if not big ones

Also I noticed the 3rd row folds fully even with good leg room in middle row, something I miss on current car. Either I have to sacrifice middle row leg room or partially fold last row

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Looks like the instrument cluster and steering wheel is carried over from Dzire and also the wood. And the touchscreen infotainment system somewhat looks like from the Ignis and looks like it will affect the airflow from middle a/c vents, just like in Ignis. The interior doesn't look very premium or attractive, compared to old Etriga. Hopefully the India bound Etriga comes with few changes in interior.

The Ertiga was always based on the Swift Platform. So is the Dzire. No wonder the legacy is carried forward with this one too!

Probably then, beige was the in-thing and hence gave that premium feel but to be honest, the quality is just about ordinary, especially of the plastics. The Roof-line, Seat belts to floor carpet too was beige!

I wish this one had come with all black interiors which is back in fashion and rightly so.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Here is the official video though not from official source. Maruti has done a complete revamp of Ertiga.

1. New Styling which looks much better than the current chrome laden mustache version.
2. Projector headlamps and LED tail lamps.
3. More Interior space. Both the second and third rows are sliding. So Great flexibility. Mahindra are you listening?
4. Bigger boot space with all the three rows up.
5. Ventilated front cup holders.
6. Twin airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX, ESP.

Now not so good things:

1. Overdose of beige and grey. Why can' they give black + beige? Will be a nightmare to maintain.
2. Didn't like the cheap continuous air vent design copied from VW a bit.
3. Horrible head unit integration.
4. Part bin sharing. Switchgear, gear lever etc.
6. Low rent parts like decade old window switches and door handles etc.

I think this car is all set to get better number for Maruti. It's overall a great package.

The new Ertiga looks so much better from the outside and the inside with all the updates. The only thing i did not like were the grey accents on the steering wheel, which i think does not gel well with the overall theme on the inside (beige and black would have been a better choice)

Coupled with the new platform which it is based on and new engines, it should be so much more better to drive as well hopefully !

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

For all the people who wonder why does Suzuki or for that matter even Datsun or many other manufacturer prefer not to provide Automatic Climate Control in Indonesia spec models, I am citing Wikipedia below:

Quote:
Lying along the equator, Indonesia's climate tends to be relatively even year-round. Indonesia has two seasons—a wet season and a dry season—with no extremes of summer or winter. The coastal plains averaging 28 °C (82.4 °F), the inland and mountain areas averaging 26 °C (78.8 °F), and the higher mountain regions, 23 °C (73.4 °F).
When Datsun Cross was launched I was wondering why the car does not have an option of Heating (attaching pic below) in the AC controls and why no ACC in a car which boasts so many features.

And now when Suzuki Ertiga got launched with manual AC controls, I decided to look at the possible causes and the Equatorial climate came to my mind, so checked the general weather stats for Indonesia on Wikipedia and found this. Hope it helps to understand why car manufacturers do not give ACC in cars launched in Indonesia.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

I'm looking to buy a 7 seater in the next 3 months. Because of space, I have only BRV as the option as the current Ertiga falls short on that. If this one is going to come to India by August, then I am willing to wait. According to NDTVAuto, the new Ertiga is expected only in late 2018 or even early 2019. Can anyone let me know whether we can expect the new Ertiga by August?

Good one. I think there is a market for the sporty/cladded version of the Ertiga.

Maruti should just name it ER-V(Ertiga Runabout Vehicle) . Being a Maruti it would sell like hot cakes!.

I hope we get some decent engine options and also get an option of a black interior. I cannot digest that beige interior.

I don't expect many miracles compared to Indonesian version.

Mostly ACC could be the added feature on top trim but not hopeful on getting cvt now to domolish the BR-V

Car will surely sell though, with increased space, cabbies would love this too(along with Mahindra MPV)

I guess I will wait till end of this year to see if they offer automatic

Suzuki Ertiga First drive impressions:

-Cabin damping is still good. This is one of the advantages of the Suzuki Ertiga is retained.Even so quiet the cabin with the sound of the rear air blower spin in the ceiling .

-The friction of Dunlop Enasave 185 / 65R15 tires to the concrete road surface sounded vague and still in tolerable (?)

- The suspension swing becomes softer than previous models. This sector adds to the comfort of driving.

-Do not force this latest 2018 Suzuki Ertiga extreme maneuver at high speed, character suspension is not designed for it. If forced, there are few symptoms of body roll. Yet still within reasonable limits.

- The engine acceleration is better than previous model. The new K15B 1.500cc 4-cylinder engine feels smooth and powerful.

- The overall weight is reduced to a lighter weight of about 100 kg. The ratio of engine power to the weight so better to make it agile.

- All seats with new padding for better comfort.
