All-new SUV from Audi to be positioned above the Q7; production version yet to be revealed in full.

Audi has been road-testing production versions of the Q8 for a few months, internationally. Now, in a first, a test-mule of this upcoming SUV has been seen on Indian soil

The test-mule seen in India features large alloy wheels finished in gloss-black, which look similar to the Q8 Sport concept that was revealed at the Geneva motor show earlier this year. This could mean this mule could be the SQ8 as well.

Expect Audi to unveil the production-spec Q8 globally sometime next year.

The Q8 looks massive, almost like an elephant, in comparison with other humble cars beside it.

It is expected to go up, against the Range Rover, X5/6 etc.

All fine, except for the front looks.
Looks like Audi has managed to plonk a huge Window AC into the bonnet of the Q8. This is the mother of all toothy grills!

That grill looks big enough to swallow a car. Look at the size of that thing! Makes the Q7 following it look more like a Q3.

Just noticed how the humongous SUV simply doesn't fit in our narrow roads. In the very first picture above the right tyres are well over to the other side of lane markers despite the left tyres being almost near the left lane marker!

I think the one that follows the Q8 is an A6 and not a Q7. And the Q8 except for the first picture feels like it has the height of a Q5.

Please tell me it's not going to look like that. Audi has consistently kept its cars looking clean, classy & timeless while Mercedes has gone all futuristic & BMW weird. There is no Audi that doesn't make my head turn around for a second glance (except for the A3).

The Q8 indeed has a great road presence as seen in those spy pics.

But i feel the building block of the Q8 is the Bentley Bentayga (take a closer look at the rear 3/4 pic).

The Q8 is wide, but it is not that tall. After all, its got a coupe roof-line like the X6. In fact it is shorter than the new Q7.

The camera is held low and the vehicle is surrounded by sedans in that pic above making it look bigger than what it actually is.

Here is how it compares in size with the Q7 in real. The Q7 is much taller.



The coupe like roof line is clearly visible. The Q8 is more like a bigger sportier Q3.

The Q8 spotted testing in Mumbai by an Overdrive reader.

Notice how it completely dwarfs an autorickshaw just behind it?

The Audi Q8 concept was showcased at the 2017 North American International Auto Show and the spy pics suggest that the production spec Q8 may carry the same design cues. The raked wind screen and sloping roofline, for instance, is similar to the concept that was showcased.
The large, octagonal grille is probably one of the biggest we've seen on an Audi. The headlamps are sleek and we expect Audi to offer a Matrix LED setup. The door handles are conventional instead of the flush units that were seen on the concept.
The concept Q8 is a shade over 5m long and the wheelbase measures 3,000mm. We expect the production variant to measure the same, when it comes to dimensions.

Not to rain on Audi's parade here, but that rear when viewed end on, looks just like the Tiguan. Hope they change the arrangement in the final production car.

Saw it on 3rd Feb on Bombay Eastern Express Highway.

The Dashboard was covered. A Dash Cam within the vehicle was recording the drive hanging from the Rear view mirror.

The vehicle was Super large sized and very impressive. The tyres seemed to be 20".

The car was fully covered with a Black wrap.

It does look better than the Q7 with the X6 extravaganza in a larger size.
