Surprising no one mentioned the middle row of Scorpio. It is upright and uncomfortable even for short distances. I have it for the past 7 years and can vouch for the discomfort its seats offer.

Wagon R too gives a similar experience.

I think different people will have different yardsticks to define a "bad seat". So it is very difficult come even close to a consensus on which car has the worst seat. Also, seats of any lower end trims of many hatchbacks will feel bad as it is not height adjustable. So even if the seats are good, the lack of height adjusting mechanism leaves a bad memory in people's minds.

Anyways, from my experience it has to be
1. Hyundai I 20 - front seats
2. VW Polo - rear seats
3. And nothing can beat Rexton for its terrible third row seats (you need to practice padmasana to be able to sit on it)

I own I20 Elite and during this 2 years of ownership, I feel both the front and back seats are worst compared other two cars which I had - Linea and Baleno(The old Sedan).

The foam is very soft and will feel back pain once seated for couple of hours.

The FIAT Linea seats, which I own before are best for me.

Though I own RITZ and am driving it for the past 5 years, a half hour drive in the rear seat when my friend was driving is enough to convince me your statement is correct!

I had the misfortune of traveling in Fortuner's 2nd row a few years ago. It was by far the most uncomfortable seats I've placed my rear on. Under thigh support or lack thereof was the biggest downer for me.
Bad road surface coupled with rudimentary rear suspension exacerbated the situation, I promptly jumped off the Fortuner and onto the Innova as soon as the cars halted.

The Elite i20 is worst of them all because of firm and short cushions. It felt like seats inside public transport vehicles.

The previous gen fluidic Verna had very uncomfortable rear seats. On a 5 hour drive people were scrambling to sit at the front since these was much better. In comparison, the rear seats of 3rd Gen City were quite comfortable.

Honorable mention should be made here about the Safari Dicor. I doubt if a more comfortable second row of seats will ever hit our roads again.

For me , it has to be the Nissan Terrano.
I have had the car for about 2 years now and it takes forever to get the seat adjustment right , it goes for valet and comes back , the seat is messed up again.
I think the lower back support is pathetic, I've never had such a hard time getting a good driving position in any car.

I drove many cars. But, Fiat Palio seats given me most comfort even on long trips. Sadly, this car is no longer in production.

Regarding uncomfortable, I felt i20 is bit uncomfortable for me.

From the cars I have driven, Hyundai vehicles generally are the bottom in terms of seat comfort. I have driven i20's (both petrol and diesel) extensively and currently own a Creta. One thing in common I have noticed across all the Hyundai vehicles I have used - terrible lumbar support. Regular use will definitely be cause for back aches. I have to use after market support cushions.

Not sure why the Ecosport gets a bad rap here. True, the seats are generally on the smaller side, but the support is quite good and driving comfort is on the higher side.

The idea of seat comfort I suppose would be quite subjective, given that it would be heavily dependent on the frame and stature of the individual using the seat.

A friend took off the seats of Crysta ( and replaced with Innova's buckets seats) saying it gives lower back pain when fully reclined. Did anyone feel so? They do travel a lot ( have E class and Q7 too) and hence should be a genuine find?
