| ![]() Skoda Karoq coming in 2020 According to a media report, Skoda is gearing up to launch the Karoq SUV in India in 2020. ![]() The Skoda Karoq was first spotted in India in October 2017. It is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. It features a typical Skoda grille with vertical slats and a chrome frame. It has rectangular wraparound headlights with a pair of trapezoidal fog lamps placed just below the main headlamp clusters. The SUV has a dual-tone front bumper with a wide air dam. The rear end of the Karoq features wraparound tail lights and a bumper with integrated reflectors. The Karoq could be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit and 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre diesel engines paired with DSG dual-clutch automatic transmissions. The Skoda Karoq is expected to be positioned below the Kodiaq in the Indian market. As part of its India 2.0 strategy, the carmaker is also working on a midsize SUV and notchback for India. | ![]() What are the odds we get the 4x4 in India? Would be an upscale alternative to the Compass (and Duster) for road trip enthusiasts! |

The Tiguan & Kodiaq are both AWD, and the former with discounts aims squarely at the Jeep Compass Trailhawk buyers.

| ![]() I was watching some highlights from the 3rd T20I between India and WI, and there was an ad for the Karoq along with the on-screen scoreboard graphics saying "Skoda Karoq - Coming soon to India". The launch must really be close for Skoda to start advertising. Having been driving one for more than an year now, I think it is a good car that deserves success. However, if Skoda is launching it in India as a CBU skipping the homologation process, it may end up being too expensive. |

Looks like VW is doing a T-Roc with the Karoq. Test market sentiment with the regulated number of imported units before they they complete homologation for the T-Cross and Kamiq.

| ![]() Will the Karoq be slotted between Rapid and Octavia? Where does that leave the mid-sized SUV Zac was talking about - in the Tiguan segment? |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Looking at the way Skoda have gone about their business, I feel they'll price the Karoq in the Tuscon territory. Kind of between the 2020 Octavia and upcoming Superb Facelift. They'll bring in only 2500 units, that means they would want to milk every penny from these units. This batch could be loaded with features too and hence the pricing. Seems they would go this way just to bide their time till the 2021 SUV comes in. Or will they do a surprise pricing and go somewhere between the Harrier and Compass? |

![]() Well I completely agree with this - I just returned from China and spent some time with this baby. It feels long and big - like the Tucson, and exactly like an Octavia from the inside. Expect the pricing to be 10% more than an Octavia - perhaps touching the Superb Style variant (which I fear, may get discontinued post the facelift to accommodate this beauty). Also do note that the height is not as much as a Tucson, but it was looking superb (pun intended) with those roof rails! Does anyone know any Skoda insiders? I have a friend there but he's tight lipped and loyal, although discouraging me from waiting as he feels this car will only be launched in next FY (so after April 2020). Pricing definitely won't be Seltos/Harrier levels so let's knock in some reality right now itself - this is Skoda, after all.
