The Tata Nexon AMT

Team,

Here's a Team-BHP exclusive:-

- Tata is ready to start production of the Nexon XZA (XZ AMT) media cars next month.
- Commercial production of the Nexon XZA is likely to commence from January 2018 onwards.
- The XZA variant will be offered in both petrol and diesel guises, although it's unclear if petrol or diesel will come first, or it will be a joint launch.
- To be offered in all 5 colour shades of the Nexon MT - White, Silver, Blue, Red & Grey, with a 6th exclusive shade added to list codenamed "Mari Gold".
- Launch of the Nexon XZA will be sometime in end-February/early-March 2018.
- Also, an optional sunroof will be added to the list of OEM Tata Nexon accessories soon.

Wow this is great news. When is this accessory expected ? Is it in 2018.

Any idea on the pricing? Should be one lakh I guess.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

XZ+ diesel manual single tone costs 9.3L and dual tone 9.45L.

Tiago and Tigor AMT variants cost ~ 40K over respective manual variants. By applying the same logic top end diesel XZA going to cost 9.7L for single tone and 9.85 for dual tone. I think they may charge bit more premium for Nexon XZ AMT, but still they can price it under 10L. Hope they do not strip some features from current XZ+.

What an amazing Scoop Avinash! You are one Gem of this forum!
And boy oh boy. Look at TATA. They are on Fire! What a positive burst of energy from them off late. Looks like they are on an absolute winning trajectory. They are almost following the timelines as well.

Unlike Tiago and its segment, Automatics on a Diesel is a must in this segment and glad TATA is not disappointing us. With the brand new diesel winning all the brownie points, am sure this is going to rock. I just hope extensive testing was done for this as they simply cannot afford any mishap at this stage.

Don't understand why TATA seems to be keeping one unique color for each model. Is that a cost sensible solution? Would have loved to see the urban bronze of Hexa Downturn edition in the Nexon too.

Someone please tell TATA that DEALER level fitting of sunroof is a tried and failed approach for them. It needs to be FACTORY fitted for people to embrace.

What happened to your Nexon booking my friend. Saw some comment in the forum that it has been put on hold. IIRC, this was for your father. Hope all is well and the new XUV in your garage is the primary reason for this hold.

Avinash, so no AMT on the top trim ? That'll be bad.

Thanks RavenAvi, great scoop to add to a long list!!

Is this new MariGold colour the same you had shared earlier (Link : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post4273555)

The Tata Nexon AMT-dkovxsu8aapjfo.jpg

This would look awesome in a dual tone combination.

As others have indicated, a Factory Fitted Sunroof would be better than a dealer level customization, even if it is executed by Webasto.

Cheers
Uday

Thanks, @Ravenavi for the earlier posting & Uday here. .

Honestly, I have not found the colors attractive. I am yet to see the Grey, Silver & White in person.

For BHPians, yes. But for people who base their purchase decision solely on the existence of a sunroof, it would barely matter.

Another good step for the market is bringing sunroof to cheaper cars. I pray they start offering sunroofs in Alto and Nano too. This would wipe off the novelty of tiny sunroofs that manufacturers offer as a favour to the consumers.

OT: But,Yes your prayers have been answered my friend!

Tata has tried everything to push their super-mini. They even have a sunroof option for the Nano @ Rs. 15,000 all inclusive!

@Poseidon has one on his ride. Sunny Nano AMT

So, bringing a competitively priced version for the Nexon would not be a major challenge.

Tata is indeed, making all the right noises

re: The Tata Nexon AMT

Some more info on the upcoming Nexon AMT variants, courtesy IAB, and a latest spy shot from earlier today, courtesy AutoSpy:

Quote:
The Tata Nexon AMT features a 6-speed automated manual transmission. Tata Motors recommends driving in the automated mode for achieving maximum fuel economy. Creep function is present to offer driver more convenience in heavy traffic and during parking. There’s a ‘kick down’ feature that downshifts the gear if the accelerator pedal is quickly pressed during automatic mode while driving at a constant speed. It is mainly useful during overtaking out on highways.
The company is expected to offer the AMT models in only a mid-spec ‘XTA’ grade and a range-topping ‘XZA’ grade. The Tata Nexon AMT will debut at Auto Expo 2018 next month. Tata Motors is likely to simultaneously announce its sales launch at the event.

re: The Tata Nexon AMT

Indeed a very handy piece of information, RavenAvi Sir.

The Nexon is already a top-class product by Tata, launching an AMT would just spice the battle up. What's more, this could even give it an edge over the segment leader - the Vitara Brezza, which lacks an AMT. Man ,I must say that Tata is doing really well in understand the need of the hour. When one compares today's Tata to the Tata 5 years ago, it feels as though it's a whole new company altogether.

Eagerly waiting for the competition's responses.

The Game is on!

re: The Tata Nexon AMT

While it is good that Tata is providing AMT in both petrol and diesel, they should have ideally provided the torque converter. We all know that AMTs come with their own share of idiosyncrasies. Given the fact that how important a product this is for Tata, the segment they are catering to and looking at the competition (Ecosport), torque converter is the default choice.

I guess the launch will be happening in a few months time. It seems that the Nexon AMT will be offered with a new XZA variant, as there is no XZ variant with the manual transmission. I guess features wise the XZA variant would be more similar to the XZ+ variant than the XT variant, some features of XZ+ variant might not make it to the XZA variant.

From all the scoop pictures I have seen of the Nexon AMT, it seems that the XZA variant will not come equipped with a rear wiper & defogger. These crucial safety features shouldn't have been missed in what is the top variant of the automatic Nexon. Ford Ecosport has rear wiper & defogger on three different variants & Maruti Brezza has these features on two different variants. Not too long ago Indica Vista had these features on two variants (VX & ZX trims).

Not only Tata, many car manufacturers have removed the rear wiper & defogger from the base & mid variants in recent times. For me a hatchback or an SUV doesn't look complete without a rear wiper & it is also a important safety feature. My 2001 Zen Vxi has both the rear wiper & defogger as OEM.
