Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

As you read the title, this thread is exactly what the heading says. What are the cars in which you have experienced the pinned to the seat feeling? (Even supercar experiences are welcome)

Few cars from experience I could think of is S-Cross 1.6 and Abarth Punto (both of them discontinued I believe)

Manufacturers make 95% of the cars linear (read boring!) just for the sake of comfort and efficiency.

But this is Team-BHP! We don’t like such things. So, what’s the other rare 5% of cars you can think of which give you the special feeling?

Look what happens when you floor an Aventador btw :

If I discount the "fake" turbo-lag induced "shove" which many diesel mills produce (like S-cross 1.6), I guess TSI engines from the VAG family are best in terms of instant response at any point, as soon as you press the throttle aggressively.

Recently my cousin bought a preowned Jan 2016 Octavia TSI DSG. In S mode, that car is mental. Had huge fun with it on Taj expressway. Certainly gives you the pinned to the seat feeling.

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

The 530d's acceleration is to be experienced. The E-Class & A6 are also quick, but the 530d is brutal and its engine the most revv-happy.

Favourite trick: Engage M2 and then floor the magic pedal. The way the fat girl sprints is unbelievable. You are pinned to the seat, can see the bonnet rise up a bit, feel the tail slide out & hear the sweet-sounding inline-6. It's a mad, mad sedan.

Half of those who experience it for the first time enjoy it; the other half get damn scared.

Other cars:

Abarth Punto
Octavia & Laura 1.8 & 2.0 TSIs
Mustang
S-Cross 1.6
Polo 1.6 GT TDI
Chevrolet Cruze (it's original tune)
Volvo S60 T6
Many modified cars (Jitu's insane 400 BHP Honda City is first to come to mind)

The EVO X was quite disappointing though. It was way too civilized for an 'EVO'.

True. 530d is a brilliant, rare car. Probably one of the last fun to drive diesel cars before the hybrids and pure electric take over. Savour it!

And am I reading this correctly? A 400 BHP Honda City??

Although haven't experienced the Abarth Punto as yet but have experienced its elder sibling the Linea T-Jet. Man what a car, what an acceleration. The speeds achieved are almost fast as the smiles on your face.

Even the older gen Ford Fiesta 1.6S had the same effect.

Enjoy . IIRC, when I floored it in 3rd gear at 110 kmph, there was excessive wheelspin.

For me, the honors have to go to the 2.0 Optra Magnum D, BS3 variant.

For the prices that it was sold at in 2011 and 2012, there was absolutely nothing 2-3 segments above that could offer such VFM.

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

The cars with huge turbo kick, shove in the back feeling etc etc is FUN. I have seen many judge how powerful the car is by this feeling. I believe that cars with linear, but stronger power delivery with flatter torque curves are actually faster and comfortable too.

Many were disappointed with Baleno RS as it was not fun, but that car with super linear power delivery is actually faster than S-Cross 1.6 . Drive both cars back to back and all would say S-Cross 1.6 is much more powerful, faster etc.

Coming back to the topic now!!

1. Polo 1.6 GT TDI
2. Abarth Punto
3. Old Cruze diesel
4. S-Cross 1.6

My friends Mustang 302 edition. I drove it in 2013 but still remember that kick like it was yesterday. Other being a 3.8L 911 Carrera.

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

I had an 2000 Audi TT and 2007 Mazda RX-8 in US and TT was legendary in the "Shove in the back feeling" department. I drove another friend's BMW M3 (E46) quite a bit and at high RPMs, it was a beast.

But the car that impressed me the most was a 4.2L naturally spirited 2005 Audi S4. Took it on a long test drive that I will probably never forget. Having been accustomed to the turbo lag of my TT, I was surprised by the oodles of torque that was instantly available even on a slight tap on the accelerator. No comparison to the E46 in my books for sure.

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

For me, its the Optra 2.0 TCDi which I owned for about a year and half. It was truly a monster and could give cars 2 segments above a run for its money. The whack you get around 2k rpm was sheer fun and it would simply take off. You could reach mind numbing speed in no time.

It was the perfect sleeper car.

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

I would be tempted to vote for BMW 320D if I hadn't driven the Chevrolet Cruze. Its tagline was "diesel rocket" and a rocket it was. I have never yet experienced that kind of brute acceleration and getting pinned to your seat. You have to drive it to believe it.

For me, its my Linea Tjet which gives me that feeling whenever I put her through the paces. It also shoves me forward with its awesome braking capability. Comes to a standstill quite fast and is rock steady. Both ways shove is guaranteed! :-)

re: Cars that give you that ‘pushed into the seat’ feeling

Among the cars I have driven-

1. VW Jetta 2.0 TDI
2. VW Ameo 1.5 TDI

Cars which have linear power delivery(like my Figo 1.5 TDCI) are much more practical and easy to drive. However, the addictive turbo kick(and lag) is something I would still pick over a linear power delivery .
