I still believe Santro + something should be the way to go.
It has always been so, like Santro ZipDrive, Santro Xing etc.

Re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Has anyone pre-booked this car? I am thinking of paying some advance and pre-booking it. I haven't checked the cancelation/refund terms yet with the dealer. But from whatever I gather, looks like one cannot go wrong with this car and hopefully I don't have to worry about canceling

No offence , but why not wait till the official unveil which is just approx 45 days away.

Probably I should wait. I was fearing that it may get in to a long waiting list (like it happened with the new Swift).

Rumour: Hyundai Santro (AH2) launch on October 23, 2018

According to a media report, Hyundai is likely to launch its new small car (codenamed: AH2) on October 23, 2018, while a private unveiling will reportedly take place on October 9.

The next-gen Hyundai Santro-santroi.jpg

Hyundai's new small car is expected to replace the Eon and could be called the Santro. A design sketch and several spy shots of the car suggest that the next-gen Santro would feature a tall-boy design, much like its predecessor. It is likely to get a large cascade grille flanked by sweptback headlamps and dual-tone bumpers. Spy images of the interior suggest that the car could get amber backlit switchgear and a 3-spoke steering wheel.

While Hyundai has not revealed any technical details of the new car, reports suggest that it might be powered by the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine as the Eon. Transmission options might include a manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).

That looks like a detachable headrest on the front seat to me. I know it is unlikely as the more upmarket/bigger i10 grand comes with integrated headrest.
I don't know how much money they can save but this can a be deal breaker for many. Integrated headrests not only scream that there is a cost cutting, it also deprives of a handy safety feature: headrests can be used to break the glass in the eventuality of being trapped inside a car.

Being an ex-owner of Santro Xing.. I feel tyres are very important for this particular car. The height of the car combined with the narrow tyres made it a nightmare even for small turns at average city speeds. Bridgestones simply won't cut it in my view and I hope the tyre size for the new Santro is at minimum 165mm if not 175. Also if the Hankooks are of soft and grippy compound it would improve the dynamics of the car multi-fold. Comfort and grip are very, very critical in tall-boy cars. The Bridgestones on the Xing made so much noise that it felt that we were directly sitting on the road, zero noise isolation.

Coming to colors, I hope the much-loved Forest-Dew color is re-introduced, have never seen such a natural shade in a car yet which is different. The sea of silver, white and red is boring today. Also hope the dynamics, NVH and build quality are top-notch this time around.. the old Santro sure did not cut it in terms of NVH and dynamics.

This is how AH2 will look in stardust grey. The design is mix of quirk and clean. A mix of Eon i10 and grand i10.

The saddest part is that it does not resemble the Santro. We own it and I absolutely love it. The Santro offered so much more than its competitors. I wish the final product does the same.

Re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

I believe Hyundai used to offer a lot more bang for buck when they were still trying to establish themselves - the pre-fluidic ones. Not the case anymore. Probably the case with all underdogs till they taste success.

Hope the existing competition in the segment makes them bring in more vfm with this launch
