It looks...well...shocking.

Not too pleased with the design. But then the original Santro was one of the ugliest cars of its time, so I'm guessing it's staying true to tradition.
My only grouse is that it doesn't look like a 'tall boy' anymore.

That said, it packs a number of first in class features. That, along with the traditional Santro build quality should make it a force to reckon with.

Is this the beginning of another Santro vs WagonR war?

quality levels in cabin are generally very good for the class; some hard and not so well built bits do exist however

legroom in the rear is good, and so is thigh support.

- No driver's seat height or steering adjust

- will only be offered with steel wheels. There will be no alloy wheels on offer for now

- comes with halogen lights. No projectors or LED daytime running lights

Somehow looks like an effort from the B team, not the main design team. Unlike other Hyundai cars, design doesn't look cohesive but seem to have been may cars in bits and pieces. Grill which is spread from 'end to end' of the face is neither the global trend, nor part of Hyundai design language (even though they have aggressive looking grill, treatment is quite different). Groove behind the front wheel really looks like a afterthought, just to make the boring car to look somewhat interesting.
In fact the car has lot of elements from i10 (side profile, inside door trims etc)

While it doesn't seem to resemble the older Santro, I personally like the looks of this new version as well. If I were in the market for a small hatch, this and Tiago would be the only ones I will look at.

The door handles look very outdated though. How much will they save by not including the pull type modern ones?

Underwhelming end result from a looks point of view. Hyundai could have done a better job. I mean, it's not like people expect a Santro to be looker but IMHO the Santro Xing had a more cohesive design than this one.

The side profile looks very underwhelming and looks a decade old. The outing Santro design had a character of it's own. Looks like a poor copy of the Gi10 from the front and back while side looks as a copy of the i10.

In effect what this appears to my eyes is the old i10 updated & refreshed wearing new clothes.
The creases in the front fender - front door & rear door- rear fender appear to needlessly complicate the side profile. Although I would wait for actual outdoor better quality pictures before declaring this an ugly duckling!

That's the power figures from the CNG variant, petrol variant makes 68hp and 104nm of torque.

Hyundai is advertising this as having a vertical shock absorber. I'm not familiar with the technical aspects of a car, so, is this a game changer? Based on the suspension features, is this going to be a game changer?

In my opinion, Hyundai designs have started taking a nosedive, again. This one tries too hard, incorporating many styling elements, and does not hold a candle to the clean-cut design of the erstwhile i10 (or even the older Santro). I'm not a fan of the black inserts on either side of the grille, the creases above the wheel arches (a trait shared with the Mahindra KUV1OO), and the very A-Star like boot profile. At least, the interiors look decent enough for its price point!

This shall not have the Fun factor that the previous Santro had, with 90Nm being delivered at 3000 RPM and 80% of it coming in at 1800 odd.

So the pull shall surely be missing.

Pricing will be the key. The power outputs look like Alto-K10 competition, if they can price it right, Kwid and Alto will have to struggle hard.

I guess this really takes the game forward in the entry level hatchback market.

Autocar India's 'LIMITED' drive review of the SANTRO,

Although 69hp seems sufficient on paper, the initial surge when you tap the accelerator isn't very strong

If you need a bit more power though, you’d rather go down a gear. It feels sufficient for city driving but may feel out of breath on open roads

if you extend the engine to the last 1,500rpm or so, it sounds very thrashy and quite loud.

AMT:

Unlike other AMTs, you don’t feel that long pause before a sudden shift in gears. The shifts are blended quite nicely, and as a result, there is less head nod than other AMTs. However, they do feel a bit protracted, especially if you’re in a hurry. There is a manual mode as well, and here too, Hyundai seems to have done a good job. First impressions clearly point to this being one of the slickest AMTs yet. As for the ride, we can’t go into much detail as we drove the Santro on a track.
