Why is CII flirting with trouble and inviting the enemy (not meaning literally of course) to the gates? Hopefully, this was on a reciprocal basis - but even then, they have non-tariff barriers.

In FY15, India's auto component exports to China was around $300 million and imports were $2.5 billion. Not sure if aftermarket car entertainment systems (HU, speakers etc) are considered as automobile components or electronics though.

There was a time when our domestic auto companies were crying about foreign players having undue advantage. Now I don't quite understand the actions from CII specifically having an expo of auto component manufacturers from a single nation. And given the fact that China is a nation where the government indirectly and directly doles out favours in various forms so as to make its exports cheaper, this step would literally kill some small component manufacturers in India. At a time when the Govt of India is shouting about Make in India to enhance manufacturing capabilities as well as increase jobs, this is quite a baffling step from CII.

Perhaps, the intent is to lure Chinese manufacturers to actually "make in India" by way for forging partnerships with local manufacturers. I'm sure that component manufacturers and OEMs alike would definitely like to benefit from the wider business opportunity window.

Or at least, I wish it were that way.
