+1.

One of the reasons why I sold off my Lazarus (Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!) was the pathetic ABS system, which simply failed to kick in at 80+ speeds more than once and was a cause of huge alarm on the highways.

The dealership did their best but failed.

Feedback I received is that Hyundai is well aware of their iffy ABS system in these cars (Creta, i20, even Verna) but haven't done anything to improve it.

While they are at it, they need to revamp the overdone interiors a bit more.

Too much to expect from a mere facelift, though. I suspect there will be a few cosmetic updates, a set of minor nips and tucks here and there, and a 50K-60K increase across the pricing range, in the end.

re: Hyundai Creta Facelift starts testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.43 lakhs

I drove the Creta 1.6D for the first time (infact any Hyundai car for the first time) few months back on wide roads at Naya Raipur. The engine is refined and eager to jump to triple digit speeds but the steering on those speeds was scary. I was conscious all the time to not let the speed rise. The next day i drove a Ciaz (for first time) and the following day, a rapid. I totally got what is the difference between ride and handling after this back to back driving session. The engine is refined on the Creta, but it was ciaz that drove better than creta. I seriously wish Hyundai works out the steering on the otherwise nice car. Has everything already which any potential buyer will need. And being a Hyundai, we know it will pour in all possible features to literally spoil the customers.

Could you point to a specific post from your ownership report where you have called out the ABS/Brake issue? Would be interested to know more on the issue that you faced. I could not find it with a brief scan of your ownership thread...

More sightings in Salem. ( Credit to Motor Vikatan Magazine). This time with the front view.

No separate posts in my ownership thread regarding this. The last 2-3 months of my ownership, when this happened, were spent with very busy schedules so I couldn't highlight the issue. That, plus the running became very less during that period.

I mentioned them last year in the dedicated Creta Facebook page, though.

Quoting:

Many times, at speeds of over 80 kmph, the brakes simply didn't bite. You can imagine the panic which set in. Subsequent pumping action resulted in the ABS kicking in after the 3rd attempt (or even the 4th sometimes!), which felt as if the brake pedal was planted on a pile of sand pebbles and I had put my foot on these loose pebbles. Hyundai is well aware of this problem but hasn't done anything to rectify it. Dealership A.S.S., as usual, is clueless.
I should have added a note on the iffy ABS unit in the 2 posts at the end of my thread, where I detailed the selling process. Apologies, my bad.

Tried the Facebook link but it asked me to join the group which I have tried and my approval is pending. For the benefit of others, I would request you to add a post on the ownership review or here on this thread or the Creta Official Review thread - so that a issue from a reliable source such as yourself is documented for awareness of potential buyers Thanks!

re: Hyundai Creta Facelift starts testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.43 lakhs

Hi all,

Yesterday saw this facelift Creta being tested between Kotagiri and Ooty.

While on my way to Ooty from Kotagiri, I spotted them parked aside, and I got down and walked all around them and identified this as Creta.

There were a few Korean engineers too there, and they wouldn't let me click pictures.

The fog light and grill are definitely changed.

Nice catch. They seem to be testing the base variant (no alloys, no projectors, no chrome). The fog lights are different from the current generation and the facelift version (picture that I had shared).

One question - Are the mechanicals changed? Else, why bother to drive around this car.

Whatever design it is, that grill sure looks odd. The current generation creta is one of the good looking cars and it looks like this face lift is going to disappoint us in the looks. I just hope they give it at least the cruise control system for the prices they are asking.

I am optimistic that Hyundai will include the sunroof and vented seats in the top end models. Failure to do so would simply deny their top selling platform with a clear differentiation.

I am glad they have used the Chinese version grills and not the Brazilian versions.

The big question is whether the interior get the nice brown color scheme as well? Regardless, will be putting my deposit down for the new version in late December.

re: Hyundai Creta Facelift starts testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.43 lakhs

Man, they've covered the badge! Can anyone guess the brand please? :P

On a serious note: They've been testing the Creta specifically in the hills. Ten quid tells me they're testing the same configuration of the new Verna on the Creta. In the new Verna, torque comes in much earlier and is more wider than before. All that torque comes to the fore on inclines and no better place to test it than the hills. Focus is more on low-end grunt and drivability I reckon. Well, mere speculation on my part but good news if it were true.

Motor Vikatan spies came across a convoy of 2018 Creta facelift test mules in Salem district, escorted by an i20 Active bearing test number plates.

Looks like the changes to the rear are more significant than the front. They honestly needn't have bothered with the sticker work on the front, but the tail has much more effective camouflage.

Now that the facelift has started testing in India, when can we expect it to be launched here? There are 2 vehicle purchases to be made in family next year and Creta is one of the contenders.

Hyundai usually gets face lift for a model after 3 years. So i would expect Creta face lift to be launched during mid 2018.
