re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Took a test drive of Ford Freestyle 1.2 L Petrol yesterday, would be happy to share my review. The variant which i tested was Titanium.

Following are my observations:-

1. Crank the engine and its difficult to say its 3 Cylinder engine, a mild thrump is noticeable but vibrations are very well managed. Didn't feel any vibrations on during idle or through out the drive. The engine feels very smooth during idle and all the driving conditions.
I would say NVH is much better than Tigor 1.2, Polo 1.2, Micra 1.2. (all petrol)
No offense to any owners who owns any of three other cars mentioned here.

2. Good low end torque at start, slot the car in 1st Gear and a slight tap on the A pedal will give the car a decent pull. However i found the mid-range to be just adequate , on a couple of occasions i floored the pedal but that instant responsiveness of the engine was lacking, and the pull during the mid range was not that enthusiastic.

I had reset the MID during the trial, in a run of 20 kms in mix city an highway conditions with a little sedate(slight tap on A pedal) driving and spirited( 100-110 km/hr on highway) driving, i managed to extract 13.7 km/ltr.

3. Gear shifts are crisp and short throw. It slots perfectly. Feels great to use

4. Suspension setup is on the stiffer side as compared to Figo Sports. Potholes are evident despite of having a taller side wall.
Steering also feels a tad tighter than Figo Sports.

A closer look at the engine bay.

The petrol gets hood insulation.

Good pricing. This is close to what the pricing was for the Aspire when I bought it 2 years back.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

This makes Freestyle cheaper than Inferior Figo by 30-40K . Will that mean the updated Figo will come with even sticker price ? Brilliant stuff, I am so tempted to swap my Kwid Hope thie prices listed in ppt are not a typo.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

This is brilliant pricing. It undercuts even the Swift quite well while offering quite a few more features variant to variant.

It also makes me optimistic towards pricing of soon to be launched Figo facelift too.

Yes. For now, as they mentioned introductory prices and Ford is known to increase prices in short span of time.

Until Figo twins facelift arrives this should take care of their sales. Most of the buyers will simply switch to fresh Freestyle now.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Clever pricing trick to make it look like it's cheaper than the Figo hatch. Only the Ambiente variant is cheaper than the Figo by about 40k, all other variants - that would actually sell - are similarly or slightly higher priced than equivalent Figo variants.

Make no mistake though, the pricing is great, and a good indicator of where the new Figo will land.

You're right of course, but it would be safe to assume the soon-to-come Figo/Aspire facelifts will offer some or all of these enhancements to restore feature parity across the range. I'm in the market in this priceband, and the Figo range just went to the top of my consideration set!

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Amidst pricing horrors by every other manufacturer, here is Ford pulling a rabbit out of the hat! The pricing is extremely good and titanium variant offers so many features at a premium of just 40k!

A quick price comparo with it's siblings:

The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs-untitled.jpg

All prices, ex-showroom Delhi.

Clever pricing, like Chetan said. Also a good indication that the Figo/Aspire twin facelifts, when launched in the near future, will head slightly southwards, price-wise, making them more terrific VFM offerings.

re: The Ford Freestyle. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 5.09 lakhs

Ford pricing seems to be spot on initially in their recent launches.

They increase the price and remove features at a later stage. Either way, it doesn't seem to have an effect on their sales.
I wish people see above Hyundai and Maruti and gives these cars a chance.

Regardless of whether they are driver oriented or built light, overall the cars are a good package.
