re: The Jeep Compass Trailhawk. EDIT: Launched @ 26.8 lakhs

Now, looking at the 4WD selector, which has 4WD Lock and 4WD Low, this is my guess about how it works (in the absence of a 'real' low range)

Normal Mode (or auto) : Since the 1st gear is really 'low ratio', using it in the day to day driving is pointless (comes with it's own penalty such as low FE etc) and when you start driving it may directly start from 2nd gear and skip the 1st gear (or it just goes through 1st briefly but never stays there).

4WD Lock : 4WD is engaged but 1st gear is still skipped and car can go till 4th or 5th gear at max

4WD Low : 4WD is engaged and the car stays in 1st gear or max goes till 2nd.

This is a Cherokee, not a Compass, but it's an incredible video of what these machines can do. Any comment on whether our Compass Trailhawk is similarly capable?

re: The Jeep Compass Trailhawk. EDIT: Launched @ 26.8 lakhs

Launched at 26.8 lakhs. That is a premium of 3.7 L over the next highest model. While not surprised but would have loved it at a cheaper price specially considering they cut out on a few features.

That's like 33.5-34L in Karnataka. Wow, that's a lot. Now it is competing with Volkswagen Tiguan, without the snob factor.

Yes, pricing is almost more than 1.5 lakh more than what I had expected.

Key issue with steep pricing, especially for Compass could be that the clubbed all the updates together, adding more 4WD gear, diesel-auto and again BSVI upgrade, that made the price shoot up more than expected.

At this price point, all I have to say is - "All the best, Jeep India! So long ..."

re: The Jeep Compass Trailhawk. EDIT: Launched @ 26.8 lakhs

I believe this will be around 32 / 33 lakh on road in Bombay (rough estimate). In my view that's just way too overpriced for this vehicle. Only makes sense if you MUST have a 4x4 A/T that is not too big and plan to actually use those 4x capabilities.

And, this is without 'nice to have features' like sunroof, powered driver seat etc.

re: The Jeep Compass Trailhawk. EDIT: Launched @ 26.8 lakhs

Looks like Trailhawk is a "dead on arrival" product from Jeep, dismal pricing and features have been removed.

"it does not get a panoramic sunroof as standard (it’s an optional extra) and convenience features like a powered driver’s seat, auto headlamps and wipers are also not present"

DOA! Who takes a 30+L car off-roading? I would buy the cheaper Thar instead.

The sensible soft roaders can buy the 1.4P auto now or wait for the cheaper no frills 2.0D auto whenever it launches who knows when!

This auto launch is only because Jeep is threatened by Harrier, Hector, et-al.,

re: The Jeep Compass Trailhawk. EDIT: Launched @ 26.8 lakhs

Came to this thread after reading the news, a difference of 10.5 lakh between the base variant and this. Going close to the endeavour and fortuner territory, wonder what the chaps at JEEP are thinking? Dead on Arrival is exactly the way to Say it!

At this price point, a Tucson or a discounted Tiguan makes more sense for a vast majority of the people.

Why should one not put in additional 4 lakhs and go for a full size SUV like the Endeavour or Fortuner.

I get 2 more seats much bigger car and as far as off-roading capability goes both are superior to the Trail hawk!
