I agree. The Seltos somehow doesn't really have the road presence that Creta has. The Hector turns more heads on the road.

Seltos, Creta etc is not the segment to look for road presence. I believe they are just spacious crossovers with decent ground clearances for in city usage and occasional highway runs. Looking at how choked and cramped roads in Indian cities have become, this car segment is bound to flourish.
4-4.5 m pseudo SUV sales numbers is a testimony to this.

Hyundai / Kia seem to have tuned their new 1.5 diesel benchmarking the current 1.6 diesel. Forget the Creta, the Seltos is as fast as the lighter and more powerful Verna in the in-gear acceleration times.

20-80 in 3rd gear:

Seltos - 9.91
Verna 1.6 - 9.87
Creta 1.6 - 11.52

40-100 in 4th gear

Seltos - 11.99
Verna 1.6 - 11.88
Creta 1.6 - 12.42

These timings are really what matter under real world driving conditions. The 0-100 timings don't.

Add to this the car is a good handler. So we're not talking an All SHOW, No GO car which is what I initially suspected the Seltos to be - manufacturers resort to All Show when they can't deliver on the more serious fronts.

Hyundai own Kia and share engines / platforms and this new 1.5 diesel is scheduled to find its way into the Verna shortly to replace the 1.6 Diesel. Hyundai must have therefore put in a serious amount of work to ensure that it doesn't become a lame replacement for their current car.

And this is when folks thought diesel is on the way out.

I might not be an expert but from my understanding, all fuel in India post BS 3 is 91 octane fuel, which is good enough for the seltos. The same is mentioned in the first few pages of your car manual.

4. Folding grab handles

Mega(read 8) SUV comparison by Autocar-India. Only diesel manuals variants were used for the comparison. Interestingly Jeep Compass is not considered for comparison as it is costlier by around 10 lakh rupees for the top diesel variant. Here's the video:

Seltos is given the top spot and rightly so, however what they don't inform is that the top of the line trim with all the bells and whistles GTX+ and HTX+ versions are well above 15 lakhs mark on road. On the other hand the quality and equipment levels are best in segment. MG has more features but even in comparison videos it is not trumping in quality department.
Kia being from Hyundai stable gives more confidence to buyers and that's why it is beating the auto sector slowdown?
Time for other players to learn and follow suit?

So true, couldn't agree more, it is a 3 SUVs comparison. The others are just there for attracting(or to fool) viewers. Not a comprehensive comparison at all.

An observation, the segment all of a sudden became the hottest segment. Consumers now have a huge range of choices which is not the case in the past.

What a comparo. Mega now means 3. Stopped watching once I found that the entire field had been whittled down to just 3 and starting the comparison. I wonder what will happen if a 4th vehicle had to join the fold, will become a hyper comparison? Honestly what a silly comparo. Couldn’t they just say it’s Creta v Seltos v hector? And in any case, why would anyone choose a Creta over a Seltos?

Same here ! I booked the car on 30 June and my booking number is 40 however I am still not committed the delivery date . I had an argument with them today and they have tentatively told October end to me.
