Will we see the Brio in similar face-lift?

Finally! Now the Amaze is looking like a cousin - albeit a bit poor - of the posh Honda City. Earlier it used to look a neglected malnourished sibling. I like this one.

One thing that puts me off in the interior design is the layout . I like symmetrical layouts and it still puzzles me why Honda always has haphazard layouts.

In the new Amaze, if the infotainment unit is placed in line with upper air vents and the climate control system, the dashboard would look more complete and appealing.

re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

I really like the new Amaze

Looks more matured and grown-up from the bug-eyed old gen. Even though there are a lot of angularity and cuts n creases in the design, it does not look overdone to me. But those alloys - I thought Honda has learnt a lesson when they gave some nice looking alloys in the City facelift. They could have also given projectors or LED HLs.

The interiors are also a great step up. I really like the new dash and steering wheel. Touchscreen does not look great though. Im really glad they went with adjustable head rests. Gear level knob looks cute. The interior plastic and fabric quality do not look too great though - never a strength of Honda, I guess. And the bare boot lid - how much does it cost to give a simple plastic cover.

What I really like is, they have got a LOT of new stuff into the car than reusing the parts from the old bin - Maruti, learn a lesson or two from your compatriots, if you are not too keen on following the Koreans.

Now, what needs to be seen is - are all these features going to be part of the production version of India Amaze or will some of them be present only in the export variant with India getting a more mid-spec top end - much like how it happened with the Jazz.

Presence of CVT will give the Amaze a good advantage over its AMT equipped competitor the Dzire. That being said, the Amaze should have at least got a pair of halogen projectors if not LED's.

Now lets not call it that please, it's embarrassing for the Beemer.

Having said that, I do like the new Amaze, it is much better looking than ever before IMO.

Pity the pedestrians who might end up as hood ornaments on this.

Does anyone else think that this might not pass pedestrian safety regulations. That square face that is so upright, is sure to be a possible hazard.

But despite that, the design looks good. Waaaay better than the older generation.

With Dzire and now Amaze and the Xcent to an extent getting rid of the CS look after their facelifts and new gens, it is a good design compared to Ameo and Zest and Aspire which has CS written all over it.
The new Aspire being tested in camouflage looks like it won't look much like a CS either.

Looks much better than the outgoing car, good space and cabin design seems mature. I'm skeptical the production version will be anywhere as well-kitted as the displayed car though.

Do you really believe Honda engineers to be that stupid? I certainly don't think so, with crash regulation soon to be introduced in India. Having worked for a Japanese auto supplier, I can assure you that they are meticulous at planning such stuff.

But I do understand your stand.

Honda has their 'hood up' (may not be the correct term) feature, where on impact, the back side of the hood pops up, reducing impact to the pedestrian. This design being standard across their model line, should ideally make it to Amaze as well.

This is from Honda's page on pop-up hood;

Have seen the same on a Jaguar, Kerala. There were no visible damage on the bumper though.

re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

A lot better looking car than the current model. I rejected Amaze when i was in market for a sub 4m sedan just for the looks. Dzire won for me.

Now with this upgraded model, Honda truly would mount some serious challenge to Dzire. Would i have bought this amaze instead of Dzire if it was already available? sure no doubt.

Where does the new Amaze and the new Dzire leave Hyundai Xcent in the competition for sub 4m sedan now? I am not too sure Tata was a serious player even though they have Tigor.

I hope not.

The platform, interiors everything looks fine, but that flat bonnet looks out of place. It looks manageable in the sedan format, but would totally look out of place on a hatchback like the Brio.

I believe a new Brio will come though. Everyone manufacturer now follows this format - the sedan first and then the hatchback.
