I think those "ribs" on the bonnet are deliberately made large to disguise the overall look of the production version. The concept displayed at AE-2018 doesnt have it, and I dont expect the production version to have it either.

Yes, they are. I used to follow Tiago spy shots, the initial prototype had ribs on bonnets during testing.

I was referring to the size of these on the test mules. The production versions will not have it like this, it will be more subtle.

I was going through the current Feb sales figures. The H5X based on what I have heard is in the C2 segment where there is an ample number of competing options and it will be difficult for Tata to make an early breakthrough. However the 7 seater will be in the D1 segment which has a relatively smaller number of competitors with the ageing XUV and no Suzuki model to skew the charts. Also the segment topper Innova will never be a competition to a well made 7 seater proper SUV.

So all this news of the 7 seater coming in 2020 and 5 seater in 2019 makes no sense.

For Tata to make a killing the 7 seater should be priority and launched ASAP if both vehicles cannot be launched together. Else Mahindra or Toyota or even Suzuki will launch something in this slot and Tata might lose out on a superb opportunity. Hope they are listening and they make the right choice and launch the 7 seater on priority.

Somehow all these mules seem to have a less drastic slope at the rear as the roofline is almost parallel to the humanity line while on the H5X its almost at an acute angle. Is the design between concept and production so different?

Our friendly neighbourhood AutoSpy sends in these fresh spyshots from the streets of Pune earlier today.

Observations:

From the rear, it looks as wide as the Endeavour.
Headlights seemed to be placed where the DRLs are.
The SUV is really big - shod with all 4 disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Rear section seemed very similar to the concept car.
Test mule was followed by an Innova.

The driver was waiting to make a u turn when he saw me click one pic and just took off.

Nice to see the high bonnet unlike the sloping one on Hexa. But it will definitely effect visibility looking at the last pic.
