On 11th June, Spotted these test mules of H5X on my way to Rohtang pass.It was followed by a Hexa & Discovery.
Both these mules had different dimensions (5seater/7seater). The bigger one has good road presence.It seems like they are rigorously testing it in this region as I Spotted one in Leh city too.

Where ? SubhoMoto says 2 mules + Hexa + Discovery. The last of the 4 vehicles in the first pic is too far to say otherwise.

No,the XUV was not part of the convoy, Infact the convoy stopped to allow the XUV to overtake hence you can notice that XUV is missing in the last picture.

At what price points are these vehicles being positioned? Any idea?

Want to know if the wait is even worth it, or should I just go ahead with my planned purchase.

IMO Could be 15-20 L for the H5X. If your budget is in this range, with some room to spare, then suggest to wait.

The H5X 5 seater will be DOA if they price it anywhere close to the compass as with 30 BHP more on tap and the Jeep brand the compass in the same price band will be much more appealing. The H5X 5 seater has a better bet of succeeding starting in the Creta belt and finishing its top end against the lower Compass variant. The 7 seater can be a compelling buy in the range you mention as the only 7 seater SUV(I consider the HEXA and XUV as crossovers) in that range can be a Rexton but even that looks to be shaping up north of the 20 lakh market. One thing TATA has done well consistently on is being VFM and given the last few vehicles launched and the response they got there is more incentive for them to keep doing that.

As far as I know, the 5 seater is being targeted at Creta with it slightly undercutting Creta's price. The 7 seater is being targeted at XUV, again price undercutting that of XUV. The 5 seater will come in this FY, by January or February. The 7 seater is slotted for next FY, after March 2019.

I'm in market for 6/7 seater. Are you sure about 7 seater coming in 2019 ?

There was no announcement from TaMo on 7 seater launch. They've promised H5x 5 seater SUV in 2019 Q1 and 45X Hatchback in Q3 2019.

The H5X twins have been co-developed from the start and have very minimal differences. Both are being extensively road tested mostly together. Hence there is not much that can stop them from launching both together. It also makes much more sense to launch a 7 seater as the 5 seat band is quite crowded and competitive.

Spotted by an AutoPortal reader near Tata's production facility at Ranjangaon, Pune.

The captured images show the Tata H5X in near-production guise while wearing heavy camouflage, covering almost everything. Though, the spy-shots don't reveal much of the SUV but looking at the alloy wheels, it is safe to state that it is a top-end or at least mid variant. Being based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport's architecture, it shares a few components with the luxury SUV. Although, the engineers at helm have cleverly replaced the costly aluminium elements with steel in order to keep the costs low.

Tata H5X to be named as Tata Harrier.

The production version of the Tata Motors’ H5X has been given the market name, Harrier. The model is already known internally as ‘Harrier’ which follows Tata Motors' trend of codenaming its models after birds before launch. However, this time round, Tata Motors has decided to finalise that as a market name and is expected to make an official announcement sometime next week.
Tata Motors is beefing up its sales network ahead of the model’s launch in India, which is expected to take place in the first half of 2019. Interestingly, potential buyers will be in for a richer experience as the carmaker is planning to give its dealerships a premium touch, with a possibility of a demarcating a special area to showcase the H5X (and future premium models).
