Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Wondering how far they are from launching the AT !! Too many mix and matches going on in this car and I feel waiting for harrier AT to come out and niggles sorted out would mean 2021+

I was really impressed by this car but let down by the driver ergonomics(being 5.7"). AT should help people like me set the seat in a more comfortable position and :
1. Negate the blind spot better
2. Avoid hitting the left knee to the dashboard
3. Able to use that driver arm rest

Could be the BS-VI variant too, that will come close to April 2020 deadline.

All the more perplexing considering Tata did a really good job with the Black shade in the Safari, and the paint job was really high quality.

Even Nexon would look killer in black paint, with those garish grey stripes wrapped. Maybe the relative low sales of black in India is the reason Tata hesitates. But Tata if you're reading this please do so, the superb mods done by some enthusiasts would save you on advertising budgets

During a recent trip from Noida to Chandigarh, the screen in the instrument cluster switched off on its own, for a good one hour. It came back on its own though.

The driver had taken the car, he immediately called the service advisor at Concorde (where we send the car for servicing). The advisor suggested him to get the car inspected at the service centre.

Since, the screen is functioning normally as of now, we are thinking of getting it inspected at the time of next scheduled service.

Having spoken to couple of Sales folks from different Tata dealers (Kropex, Prerna), they were of the opinion that it would take at least 8-9 months for the automatic to arrive and the price would be about 2-2.5L more than the corresponding manual. They were not sure why they think the price would be this high. Maybe extra features?

I felt that they were just speculating. Take it with a pinch of salt

So, that would mean a Feb 2020 arrival? How many months will Tata sell it for? Just 2 months till BS VI kicks in? Sounds like a train wreck to me.

I wouldn't really take it at face value. I've been hearing 8-9 for about 2-3 months now. Initially it was expected around Oct/Nov, now Q1 next year.

I think Tata will target festive season this year for the AT. I did not quite get you on the BS-VI thing. The Fiat 2.0-litre engine is BS-VI compatible and Tata will do the needful when the time comes.

Sorry, I did not realize the Fiat 2.0 litre engine is BS VI ready. With all the talk about big diesel engines needing to be upgraded post April 2020 (and hence prices to go up by 2-3 lakh), I was under the impression that this engine will no longer be viable.

I remember a member confirming that Compass is already having the expensive DPF, so it may not get much more expensive (than it already is) in the BS6 avatar.

Does anyone have clarity about Harrier?

Here is an absolutely fantastic comparison by ZigWheels. Very nice review covering the Compass, Creta and Harrier.

Harrier too has DPF fitted in its current avatar. It’s mentioned in the owner’s manual.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Some people have the wrong impression that descending a ghat at speed in low gear to keep rpm high regenerates (ie burns trapped soot from) the DPF. No it does not, but climbing a gradient in low gear, without flooring or loading the engine much clears it fast.
If you hear of drivers commenting that their current Mercedes was refusing to up-shift for a few minutes, when they hit a clear section, and started behaving normally after a few minutes, then the car ECU was doing a planned DPF regeneration.
This often takes place after about 10 km of driving when everything is sufficiently warmed up, and will last only till DPF is clean of soot.

Is this process similar to Italian tune-up or something different
