Hexa has a benchmark ride quality this side of 40 lacs and the closest to it is just the Duster.

Every single review of Hexa...I repeat every single one of them just stated that it had one of the best suspension set ups among Indian cars.

Innova and XUV aren't even in the same ballpark.

Btw.., I own both the Hexa and Duster.

After it was known that there won't be a fully loaded AWD or an AT at the launch, this thread seem to have lost the steam (and this must the case in other forums and social media as well). Hope Tata takes note of this and tries to expedite the launch of the top variants. They had managed to nicely build up the anticipation and now it all seem to have fizzled out (at least to some extent)

No, you're very right. This thread has indeed lost steam. Tata should observe and note that the moment they've announced about what they're going to immediately bring to the market, the buying public have ignored it (largely) because it doesn't cater to their 'needs'.

An Auto box is the need of today, not a luxury 'option'.

Guys - lets not assume that the level of activity in a thread on T-BHP decides its commercial fate. Most Tata/Fiat cars get lot of views/comments and long threads. That doesn't mean those cars become commercial successes. Neither does a thread in T-BHP losing steam mean that a car maker has to take note and made model changes and update their launch plans.

Lets allow the folks at Tata motors to do their job and see how the market receives the product.

I personally would be disappointed if I had been in the market for a new SUV because I would invariably buy a Tata/Mahindra and highly prefer AT's. But if not available at launch, i would just wait. I wouldn't then brand this whole launch exercise a farce and dismiss the car as a failure. There are lot of ppl out there who still buy manuals.

I Agree. But when you see a car being launched and the car in the advertisement is fully loaded (with AT, sunroof, AWD....) it becomes more desirable and aspirational. It draws lot more customers to the showroom and many of them may still buy a lesser variant. But it helps to create a buzz.

Spot on. With regards to Promotion having an Auto is critical. Maybe there are many who will go for the manual but not having an Auto on launch will be a dampener for the first week. Then on, the no. of cars on road will attract more buyers.
May be TATA in their market research have identified that demand for manual will be higher based on the price bracket they intend to launch. Adding auto may push the price range higher than they want to start with. So introducing the manual at their preferred launch price and then getting the auto as an update makes sense to them. Deep down TATA like all of us is aware that price and not having auto or not will decide the car's fate. So they are focused on the variables that they can manage.

Now, before Harrier is reviewed here, there still around 3 months. Tata Motors are expert in creating sensations, so the following may be the topics of discussion for 3 months from now:

1. A special channel for Harrier and likes (and may subsequently include Hexa) in line with Maruti Suzuki's Nexa

2. Announcement of ex-showroom price near to ₹ 12 lakhs for the base model.

3. Dazzling Promotions (read it advertisements)

4. Reviews of reviews by others (others review at least one month early)

5. Announcement of Diesel Automatic with Panoramic Sunroof and 6-7 airbags, perforated seats, tyre-tronics etc.

6. Industry first service and warranty packages (peace of mind)

7. Formation of special group for Harrier with exclusive membership advantages

8. Competitors responding (Creta, Compass and new-Duster)

Couldn't agree more. People seem to be over obsessed with ATs on this forum. More a case of projection bias then real understanding of the market. If it is a good car at the right price it will be a hit. AT may be the cherry on the cake but not the cake itself. The cake is more important than the cherry. Hexa with a good AT barely does 800 pieces where as the Marazzo with no AT is already reaching 4000 dispatches.
