I agree that it is almost there. But I hope you took into account this:
Quote:
the sensitive steering at speed is the biggest problem on the highway. A small touch @ 120 kmph and the car changes direction like you cannot imagine. Viddy hated the steering at high speed too and commented that “we’ll be seeing a lot of crashed Harriers”.
and this:

# The driver side ORVM is a big bother on hills and roundabouts. Its a big negative in my book. I had to sit up and look over the mirror to negotiate the turns.
when you said that.

I hope Tata fixes these deal breakers fast and not wait till the next face-lift.

Do we have an Instagram handle where we can find high quality/size images of the ones posted in all the official reviews. Would love to put them as wallpapers on my laptop!

Impressively, the orange Harrier didn’t look out of place in that group at all (an XUV500 or Creta surely would). The Tata looked just as premium as the European luxury barges (orange was a contributor as well, not sure about white).
This shot proves GTO's every word of it. Looks fabulous and certainly looks more premium than the white one I saw the other day.

There are not many who can't/won't fall for the looks of this beauty and I think the initial euphoria and novelty factor will give Tata enough time to sort out the imperfections. With little bit of effort and determination, Tata can easily sell 2,000, if not more, of these every month.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Saw a couple of Orange Harriers and one Grey and another one in White. Looks Smashing and Handsome on Road.

The Orange looks youthful, Grey is Stately but my personal favorite would be the White.

To me the Harrier in White looks even better than the likes of Fortuner (White being its most fav color).

Even while passing one on the bike, i find myself spending that extra fraction to take another look. Probably not the best thing to do in bumper to bumper traffic :-)

Personally, i would choose the white/grey (can't decide which one I like more) over the Orange. Haven't yet seen one in the gold in person. I think i might like that one too!

Eagerly awaiting for the official review to understand what the balance 15% entails.

I had pre-booked one, cancelled it more than a month after launch after much deliberation. More on that experience when I put up the thread on the first impressions of the car I ended up buying.

An auto box and 6/7 airbags in a lower trim (aka the yaris) might just have resulted in a different outcome

I didn't need a car in that size or from that segment, but was willing to splurge for one.

(Offtopic - i'm looking forward to the day when i'm using the term splurge with respect to something way more exotic. Currently i'm on the day dreaming end of the "chump change - splurge - day dreaming" spectrum of owning an exotic :-p)

Hoping that they do well in the market with this and the upcoming range of cars, but that their products truly stand out, not just for their looks but for the overall ownership experience.

cheers!

The Harrier is 85% there...just wish Tata had completed the final 15% before launching it.
Good to know Harrier is 85% there and I hope Tata resolve all the remaining niggles when they launch Cassini in October 2019.

Really surprised to know about behaviour of steering at highways.

Waiting for detailed review of Team-BHP.

I am not sure whether anyone noticed this provision for airbags almost behind the second row. When I asked the sales guy, he said there is no airbag there, it is just a provision for whatever TATA plans to do! Fix a third row and install airbags- my wild question!

Tata Harrier with 20 inch alloys . This actually looks amazing however 19 inch wheels would be a better option as they would be a better option considering the condition of our roads .

Below image is the extract from Harrier's owner's manual. The arrows marked clearly shows that the pillar behind the second row is equipped with the airbag (XZ variants only). However, 3 arrows are marked on each side which would increase the count of airbags to 6+ including the driver and co-passenger airbag.

I have done 3000kms in my Harrier and when I drove from Kottayam, Kerala to Bangalore via thrissur->coimbatore->salem in City mode, I was only able to get a mileage of 11.7km/L. When I drove in sports mode from Bangalore->Kerala it was only averaging 10.5km/L. I was expecting much better mileage on the highway.

I had once driven a small stretch of 20kms after resetting the trip in economy mode, and set the cruise control to 100km/hr and I did get 17km/L on that small stretch, but it's not a practical drive on indian roads.

It would be great if other Harrier owners share their experience with:
1) Mileage
2) Gear box. Shifting between 1st and 2nd gear sometimes makes a vague scrapping noise. I don't feel much vibration on the gear lever or the steering as others have mentioned, but the shifting is generally not slick.

Would be great to hear views of these 2 points from others about the Harrier?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have driven my Harrier for over 4,000 kms as of date without any long road trip. So far, as per the trip computer, my average is about 14 kmpl which includes a 50-50 split between City and Economy mode. Am heading out for a 2,500 km trip from Hyderabad-Coorg-Hyderabad over the next week and I will post the mileage details of that trip once I am back.

As for the gear shift between 1st to 2nd, it definitely is not a slick and smooth travel between these gears. However I am hoping that after the second scheduled service (at 6,000 kms), it would get better.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

@micraft 11.7 km/l is too less, even Safari 3.0 consistently gave me 12+ mileage on highways. The constant speed of around 95 kmph in 6th gear seems to give the best FE in Harrier, especially in City mode.

Regarding noise while shifting gear from 1st to 2nd, I did hear that noise few times. Most probably it's due to incomplete clutch engagement. Try the same by consciously ensuring that clutch is fully engaged. Shifting does need a bit of efforts till 3rd gear, but thereafter I found it pretty smooth.
