This is a surprise from Tata! They should have let the anticipation grow even more. But I guess they must have given some thought to it. And as regards the car, just WOW! Hats off to Tata Motors! This is a real looker. I am so glad I deferred my purchase of the Hexa and booked the Harrier in anticipation. Now the wait for the interiors and the specs begins. I am pretty sure that they will be great as well! Great job Tata Motors! Hope this is a real success story for them!

Its been some time with that pricing leak in the market and open bookings. While there are some bookings and some interest generated I have not seen any official announcement of the number of bookings like manufacturers do when they see a smashing hit. So that pricing does not seem to be working so far.

If launched at that price this will be a good collectors car popular with auto enthusiasts but wont meet Tata's stated purpose from the Harrier. Knowing Tata marketing has been quite smart and spot on in their pricing the last few launches I expect this will be corrected.

Considering Tata has bet heavily on the 5 seater market arriving 3 years too late and left the 7 seat market open(Mahindra/Hyundai are coming with 7 seaters like the Inferno/Creta & Tucson) where too they will lose the early mover advantage this is a very make or break moment for Turnaround 2.0 and Tata just cannot afford to lose their momentum especially since the Tiago numbers are under heavy threat from the new Santro.

The timing of this reveal seems to be to boost the bookings in the festive season as I dont think they are yet seeing the success they anticipated in which I suppose the pricing leak had a role to play.

I never thought I would like this front (headlights on the lower portion) but this one looks good. In fact much better than the Kona. But the rear is a bit bulky but overall, a very good outcome. If priced well (with safety features standard, loaded with features), it should do well.

However, I feel they should have:
1) Tried a new pattern on the grille. This looks similar to the Kwid's pattern.
2) Added roof rails as standard.
3) Better alloys. This looks bland!
4) Placed the Harrier badge on the rear in a more traditional manner.
5) Hidden the tail pipe.

Besides the obvious (huge wheels, headlights) Tata have remained true to the concept. The production form looks strikingly similar to what was showcased as a concept at Auto Expo.

First pictures are definitely impressive and would be a success story for sure.
Technical capability is also of the highest order as seen in the basic structure.

From the Indica (1998) to the Harrier (2018), Tata has come a long way and it now definitely is showing..!!

• One of my friend who owns a Nexon, had previous ownerships of a Ford Fiesta and a Ford Figo.

• Another owns a Tiago and had a previous Hyundai i10 ownership.

If the Word of Mouth Experience of these two friends is anything to go by, Tata Motors seems to be doing everything right. And yes, even the dreaded so called "Tata Serivce" experience seems to be ok and doesn't seem to be hampering the ownership experience.

Also what seems like a chrome bar on the rear quarter window. Looks an eyesore. Time will tell. Stunning SUV though otherwise.
