Is this true? When I mentioned this earlier, I was informed otherwise here.

The 170hp motor will also be BS-VI-compliant and will make its way to the five-seater model as well, around the same time. Sources suggest that the BS-VI engine could even be capable of making more than 170hp when it is introduced.
I understand the quest of continuous improvements and the need for BS-VI compliance etc. But, am I the only one who thinks that early adopters of Harrier will find it hard to swallow a 20% increase in power in a year's time from launch of a brand new product "as a side effect" of engine becoming BS-VI compliant?

Most of the so called 7 seaters are more like 5+2 with the last 2 seats optimized for kids/short adults. I believe only XC90 and GL class (may be Isuzu Max7?) would qualify to be proper 7 seaters (and measure 5 meters). So it is better for the Harrier to not attempt the 'proper 7 seater' ambition.

Where does it say so?

Quote:
When it arrives, the five-seat Harrier will come with a BS-IV-complaint, 140hp, 2.0-litre engine that Tata calls Kryotec. When the seven-seat variant makes its debut, it will have a more powerful engine, which will churn out around 170hp. The 170hp motor will also be BS-VI-compliant

If you read further down they say 170 bhp version will be also BS VI compliant. If feel this is a typo error for 140 bhp version.

But let's wait and hear from Tata Motors officially.

On the Innova, again, the '7-seater' version is like a 4+2 seater in reality (I am not calling it a 6 seater, because as per me, a 6 seater should not require adults to compromise on legroom and under-thigh support). The only area it does better than, say, an XUV is that it has some usable luggage space if the 4+2 seats are utilized.

So it is 4+2 (with luggage), or 4+2 (without luggage). No 7 seaters to be found anywhere in the mass market.

Maybe vehicles in the Pacifica segment can address this market gap.

I hereby completely jeer at and debunk and hoot, whistle and thumb my nose at the whole concept of this nonsensical nomenclature of the various van type vehicles being sold in India and the manufacturers claiming that all these are 7 seaters. There is absolutely no proper 7 seat vehicle in India at this moment in the passenger car/ van segment.

Providing the pygmy/ dwarf sized last row of bench seats OR those stupid sideways facing jump seats, do not make for a 7 seater. In any case, if that last row OR those stupid sideways seats are indeed in use, then there is zero space left, for the luggage.

Basically, there is no equivalent to vehicles like the Merc V Class, the Honda Odyssey or the Chevy Suburban, here in India. And frankly, nor is there sufficient space on our roads, to have such vehicles come in and succeed here.

If one really wants a proper 7 or more seater vehicle, one probably has to buy a Tata Winger, or a Force Tempo Toofan or a Force Tempo Traveller or a Tata Starbus or something like that, spend a good amount of cash on jazzing up the interiors and fitting them out properly will all mod cons and luxuries, change the entire seating configuration into a sort of a comfortable “living room” concept, maybe with an Airline type chemical toilet thrown in, along with a fridge, bar cabinet, kitchenette and mood lighting, fancy music and television set up and other similar fripperies, and use that as a luxury people carrier for large families etc. One’s own private “drawing room” on wheels...

But there will be compromises, notably on safety kit and the “self drive-ability” because for such a concept, one will surely have to have a “paid chauffeur” to ferry you around.

We can also confirm that the seven-seat model will have a 62mm longer rear overhang (taking overall length to 4,660mm) compared to the standard Harrier to accommodate the third row of seats. Both SUVs will be share the same 2,741mm wheelbase. Both models are also expected to carry the same design.
This appears to have been added later to the Autocar article so this means the Harrier is 4598 mm i.e Discovery Sport sized and the 7 seater 6 cm longer(4660) same design and same wheelbase.

So now this means this 7 seater is Safari sized (4655) and smaller than a Hexa (4788).

SRK Designs a Sport Harrier. The subtle changes to the Harrier look great.

.
Exactly right. I have great hopes that the Kia Carnival would address this market. Autocar and other outlets report that it is expected to launch in 2020 (although, it would be 4 years old by that point). I suspect a proper 7 / 8 seater vehicle can dent the truck based SUV segment as well, as the likes of the Endeavour and Fortuner are too small / cramped to compete with it in terms of space.

Anyhow, back to the 5 + 2 Harrier, I guess, for now!

Tata H7X to be shown at Auto Expo 2020, would be cheaper than Alturas G4

The H7X will be launched in 2020 and will be unveiled by the end of 2019.

The car will have features like a 360 degree camera, park assist, different driving modes and different mood light settings.

The car will get leather upholstery and electrically adjustable seats.

The car is going to also get bigger and chunkier tires than the Harrier five seater.

So they are effectively killing their own 5 seater with leaked information on 7 seater, if it's smaller than Hexa and if it's going to have Auto box at launch with euro VI complaint engine , then the harrier is effectively murdered by TATA . My money will now move on to the 7 seater and fold the last row seats and use it as 5 seater (my requirement is a 5 seater) . By now TATA should know when to stop leaking information

No changes in Harrier as far as the speaker setup is concerned since Harman owns JBL and all the recent Tatas (Hexa, Nexon, Tiago etc.) have had their infotainment systems developed by Harman along with the speakers from JBL.
