Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Guys, the walk around of the XE variant-

In short, I wouldn't go for the Harrier unless it is the XT or the XZ variant. The Creta SX or the SX+ would be a better option than the Harrier XE or the XM. The real feel good factor starts only from the XT or the XZ.

A trip to Goa is not the best gauge of mileage. 17 here can go to 20+ if the car is geared correct. Where as it can drop down if over all gearing is short.
If gearing is similar to Hexa, 1350rpm @80 in 6th, which climbs to 1550 @ 100, and touches 2000 @120, you will get 19-20 kmpl if you cruise@100.
If RPM is higher, you will lose in efficiency.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the asymmetric alloys annoying? Clockwise on one side and anti-clockwise on the other. Do they not come with LHS/RHS in pairs?

There are some of us who dont like asymmetric alloys. I dont understand why do they bring out such designs.

I hope I dont have to get a vehicle with such a design.

The count of airbags wouldn't be 6+ because these are curtain air bags. It would be a single air bag which curtains between these two pillars which makes the total 6.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Yesterday I took a test drive of the Harrier. I found it difficult to get a proper seat adjustment to my height (I am 6ft 3'). All through the ride my left leg kept hitting the console whenever I was releasing the clutch. I also found the engine noise to be quite a bit at low speeds unlike the Compass wherein you dont get to hear the engine noise. I felt the Compass had better interiors than the Harrier. As mentioned by others already the exterior looks awesome. Overall I was a bit disappointed with the test drive.

When I drove in sports mode from Bangalore->Kerala it was only averaging 10.5km/L. I was expecting much better mileage on the highway.

I had once driven a small stretch of 20kms after resetting the trip in economy mode, and set the cruise control to 100km/hr and I did get 17km/L on that small stretch, but it's not a practical drive on indian roads.

It would be great if other Harrier owners share their experience with:
1) Mileage
2) Gear box. Shifting between 1st and 2nd gear sometimes makes a vague scrapping noise. I don't feel much vibration on the gear lever or the steering as others have mentioned, but the shifting is generally not slick.

Would be great to hear views of these 2 points from others about the Harrier?

Thanks in advance.
I did raise a complaint on the TMSC app, and the issue was promptly followed up by the manager of the service center. So today I had gone on a mileage test with the service center driver. First the tank was filled up to the brim whilst the car was jerked left and right to get the air bubbles out. Then AC was switched off, and then drove 30 kms to hyderabad on the highway on City mode at 60-80 kmph. The longest drive I have ever been in my car. The display console did show an efficiency of 21.5kmpL, and the 30 kms back to the same fuel bunk where I filled up the tank the same way. For the 62 kms driven we got an efficiency of 17km/L. This surely proves that the console mileage is not to be trusted.

Now the driver was very happy to report to the manager that he extracted 17km/L(in city mode) on the Harrier, and the manager assumed that this would have made me happy. Reality is that in practical highway driving conditions(80% highway + city) this vehicle only gives me 11.5 km/L in City mode, whereas there are people who are claiming 14km/L in Sports mode, which puts a big difference in the mileage of my vehicle.

Fuel should not be filled after the auto-cutoff. Overfilling by this method will give you incorrect FE figures even when using Full tank to full tank method.

The alloy wheels are upto personal taste (i don't like them either) what i wanted to highlight is how they fill the gaps & look much better than stock .

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

After not seeing much of Harrier on road in NCR region, I have spotted 4 harriers in the last one week. And boy it is mighty impressive and the headlights layout does look better in real life than in images. I was the one to criticise the headlight layout but I can confess it looks more mature in real life.

Tata has pushed the first official update for the infotainment system and it is adding a new capability to the system. When launched the 8.8-inch floating-type infotainment system of the Harrier offered several connectivity input options like the Android Auto, Aux-in, USB and Bluetooth. Tata announced that they will soon push an update to add the Apple CarPlay connectivity option to the SUV too. According to Devanshu Kushwaha, an owner of Tata Harrier has revealed that Tata has finally started updating the software of the infotainment that adds the Apple CarPlay connectivity to the infotainment system. According to Devanshu, the update is done at the service centre. We are not sure if the owners can update the software by themselves. The new version of the software is Q5_R09.02.
