Damn! That is one car with real high drool factor. Hope fiat launches it in India and does not screw up again like the Palio!

I was a bit surprised with the engines on offer. By the looks of it, and going by personal past experiences with fiats both in India and in Europe, I can safely assume that this car and its chasis/suspension combo should be able to handle far more powerful engines.....

Drooooooool...........!!!

It has got everything a Car enthusiast would love to have in his Car!
Agree with Himanshu, they need to plonk much powerful engines like 1.8, 2.0 etc!

Have to start saving bucks now!

The engine choices are really disappointing, especially the diesel one. I thought we were going to get a 1.9L JTD on this beauty. It seems we will get the 77 BHP 1.4L petrol and the 90 BHP 1.3L diesel. But the 120 BHP 1.4L petrol has some torgue range - 194 NM @ 1750 RPM. Wow.. I wish we get it here in India. But I wanted a 1.9L JTD.

I don't think we should go by the engines in Turkey.
When i went to Turkey, i saw loads of Fiat Siena's there, most of them were the 1.2 or something.
I think we should see the engines on offer here because there is no way they are going to launch this car in India with an engine that's less powerfull than that of the Palio 1.6.

How I wish, the words you say, turn out to be true. But a 1.4 JTD with 120bhp isn't bad either considering they fail to see our point that they should launch the 1.9 JTD.

@1100D
I don't think they have a 120bhp 1.4JTD.
I think you are reffering to the petrol engine.
I guess their main aim will be to sell the 1.3lt 90bhp JTD but we can hope for the 120bhp 1.4 petrol too.

If they launch linea with anything less than 1.6 in petrol and 1.9 in diesel then it will supersede all its previous blunders. So i wish they launch it only with a 150 bhp 1.9 engine(diesel) which serves many of its vehicles in europe along with 120 version.

If it does come with a 1.9 JTD with 150bhp, it would probably cost north of 15 lakhs... Fiat has trouble selling a 4-6 lac car here..

Why do you think it will be north of 15L for a 1.9 JTD ?

1.9 JTD would be an overkill.. I dont think the Linea is as big as the Skoda Octovia. 1.3 JTD should be fine considering its size.

But then they put a 1.9 engine to the old Palio D.. which again is an overkill - I can cruise in 5th gear on country roads !!

You are mistaken

[quote=spadival;429599]1.9 JTD would be an overkill.. I dont think the Linea is as big as the Skoda Octovia. 1.3 JTD should be fine considering its size.

Do you know how large the vehicle is , it is as big as a corolla. Its wheelbase is also big enough to accomodate a 1.9 engine. And about 1.3 engine, it is the same engine serving a swift, only difference is in its power. So it will be a retro step from fiat to go for 1.3 in linea. And the same car will carry a 1.9 130 bhp engine in brazil as per sources.

It is a golden chance for fiat to recreate the lost brand image, so it will be better for them to launch linea. And another good thing will be with 1.9 engine they can price it above 9 lakhs, well above the price of any tata car including indigo xl thus avoiding competition with tatas. Then it will be the best VFM car in D segment well ahead of lauras and elantras.

IMHO, Linea will be priced between 8L-10L which is bang in the middle of C+ (Aveo, Fiesta, Verna, NHC, Lancer, SX4, etc) and D (Octavia, Corolla, Optra, Cedia, Civic, etc) segments. So, the 77bhp 1.4 Petrol & 90bhp 1.3 Diesel will take the fight to C+ segment cars and the 120bhp 1.4 Turbo Petrol will do the same to D segment cars. But, where's the 1.9 Diesel? if not 140/150bhp as mentioned in ACI, atleast the 120bhp should be here Remember, its as big as Corolla and with similar features like Automatic Headlights, etc its sure to make waves.

We have DROOLED over the exteriors, so now for the Interiors! I think these are the first pics of the interiors...i know know, its LHD & will never make it to India

Edit: Just now saw your post, swathyd. Its sad when people just speculate without knowing the details!
