re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

One big blunder from Maruti. Petrol Ciaz is with dual battery (lithium ion and lead acid). Diesel continues old one only single battery lead acid. Did anyone notice this? Please confirm.

Read somewhere that the speed alert system beeps continuously when the speed crosses 120 Kmph. Hope there is a way to turn it off or it can prove to be a major irritant.

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

A well-planned variant price strategy, a reliable car and the legacy of MSIL. Should sell well over the competition. I would have liked to see the touchscreen system in at least the top two variants though. Everyone wants it!

Somehow the launch of the new Ciaz hasn't shown confidence in the intraday stock price for MSIL, it dropped 75 points! This is unusual as the new launches almost always bump up the stock price

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

The biggest disappointment about the facelift is no upgrade to the old 4speed autobox,
should have been atleast a 6speed auto for comfortable highway cruising,4speed auto gets too vocal on highway runs and the engine feels strained post 100kmph.
Else the facelift is a welcome change and keeps the car fresh, ciaz has always been a good looker and the biggest usp of the ciaz is the amazing spacious cabin.

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

I was on the fence whether to buy skoda rapid or the new maruti Ciaz. But this new facelift has few disappointments & made me stick to rapid booking:
1.) Old 4-speed auto gearbox
2.) Just 2 airbags
3.) Mediocre petrol engine.

The looks are good but this isn't going to convince me to spend 13.66 lakhs OTR Bangalore on the Alpha AT variant. It is priced high IMO, I've been a loyal maruti customer for the past 10 years, but it was time that I expected something better when one is ready to spend more than 10 lakhs.

This will sell, there is no doubt about, this is what the public needs, a good looking car with DRL's, touch screen, rear led lights. No one is bothered about braking distance, rattles beyond 3-4 years, build quality, high speed cruising, overtaking and stability.

Rgds,
Vinod

2. Sunroof

The way most car makers make the facelifts work, here in India, you get the base variant with just enough improvements to entice new crowd to buy the vehicle.
The deeper essentials are(can be) always provided in the next year model, either altogether a list of 'new' features(stuff deliberately left out in the 'new facelift') OR in some cases, sequentially adding one 'new' feature every year to prolong the service life of the Model.

Depends, if Ciaz is here to stay and Suzuki is not planning any replacements for this, then you can expect the 'new improvements' to trickle down into the vehicles over the course of a few years.
If a Ciaz replacement is planned, the 'improvements' will arrive early(again with yearly model revisions).

Unfortunately, we as a customer are stuck in a huge car maker experimental study as subjects :(

I personally have made it a rule to never go for a new facelift or a newly introduced model in its first year in the market, because it is usually an experiment at that point and carmakers don't invest fully in the features. Most features in that car arrive in its 2nd or 3rd year revisions depending on the market response.
Worst thing is, all the improvements introduced in the newer revisions cannot(in most cases) be acquired or upgraded by customer who bought the previous versions of the vehicle!

So, I would be looking at all the features that you mentioned, to be introduced by 2020 or later and not before that. Unless Maruti Suzuki can prove me wrong!

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

Just one aspect makes this Ciaz facelift a disappointment for me - NO 6 airbags in any variants.

It seems neither customers nor competition can convince Maruti's management to provide 6 airbags in any of their cars. Till Govt of India does not make it mandatory, the management will keep citing that they are compliant with regulations.

Even Swift in Singapore comes with 6 airbags (https://www.suzukicar.com.sg/models/swift#safety).

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

It looks from the brochure that the diesel version still gets the old instrument cluster without the color MID which comes with the petrol. What on earth are the product managers thinking when they come up with such differentiation?

Perhaps because the diesel has almost twice the battery capacity of the petrol(65Ah v/s 35Ah) and hence, the diesel does not need extra battery power to support repeated start stop operation. Hence, only the petrol gets an extra battery.

Re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

Got to say, that Maruti which was known for its congested, drab and absolutely no-feel-good interiors, threw everything they could into the Ciaz which would produce an effect of luxury and openness and it's only gotten better with the face-lift.

Let's face it, Nissan Sunny and Suzuki Ciaz are 2 models with D-Segment levels of space, almost but the Ciaz has the edge of way better interiors. I used to be a fan of beige, but in the European context today, the usage of beige has gone down drastically.. gone are the sea of beige fabric, wooden insert on the dashboard and beige door-pads. However the Indian buyers still would find beige to be visually liberating and modern, so to speak.. it can pass off as a total executive sedan for the budget conscious. The Zeta model makes the most sense since anyway the max number of airbags are 2 and ABS is standard.

If only Suzuki can nail the haptics..the door shut, the stalks operation, the button press, and overall build quality (TECT shell isn't convincing enough as even Baleno and Swift have it), the Ciaz can well and truly be the value leader. This is not to say that most people will complain on those aspects.. they won't as the car has been packaged very, very well, however for those few who are used to European-esque products to find appeal in the Ciaz, it might not hurt if Maruti can go much higher on the quality ladder in terms of build.

On the mere look wise, I think the nexa blue color looks fantastic on ciaz and the car do look a lot larger in the pictures above, giving it a character of its own. Maruti is surely now solidly putting its foot down in this segment. In this era of compact SUV's, there is still a space for expansion of good sedans which are much better for small families and their luggage.
With all the major players now in the segment, it will be interesting to see the monthly numbers. With Petrol City and Verna Diesel are still good buys, but Yaris will surely feel existential crises so early in product life.

Re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

The new Ciaz looks much premium compared to the outgoing model IMO.

However, 1 lakh premium for a 4-speed AT is insane. Wish there was a CVT on this one!

Following footsteps of Ciaz, the S-Cross also has been updated across the range. Details in this post - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ml#post4447515
