The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

Quote:
Over the standard Vento, the Sport edition comes equipped with a set of visual updates to the exterior of the sedan.

The Volkswagen Vento Sport will come equipped with faux carbon fibre finish for the ORVM’s, chrome ‘Sport’ badges on the front fenders on either side, gloss black roof, 16 inch Portago alloy wheels, black decals on the side and a spoiler finished in a shade of gloss black.

Honestly, a disappointing effort by Volkswagen. No “sport” addition to the car, just mere visual gimmick. They better launch the MQB based Polo and Vento or else get decimated by the competition.

What’s holding Volkswagen back? I love their cars but I’m pretty disappointed by their recent efforts. Dragging an old car year after year..just why?

re: The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

That second image had several alarm bells ringing on the internet.

Some even said that VW is offering RWD on the Vento.

On a rather angry note, these facelifts and special editions are only to keep the product relevant until the MQB based one steps in post 2019. Volkswagen's lineup might be ageing well aesthetically, but the truth is that they are all developing white hair or shall I say developed white hair?

The only USP of the Vento is the TDI+DSG and TSI+DSG combo. Nothing else seems to pull customers to the German carmakers showrooms.

The next gen Vento (ala Virtus) will most probably move a segment up. It could also be priced above the City considering that Germans have a habit of pricing cars above competition. The Virtus will thus enter or enroach the D1 territory.

Totally! The least they could have done is to match up to the convenience & safety features to that of the City/Verna (6 airbags, sunroof, key less go etc.)

It probably is yet another effort from VW to keep its ageing sedan relevant for another year or so. That said, even after so many years in the market the Vento still manage to look quite good and relevant.

re: The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

New carbon fiber ORVM's? This was available in my special edition Polo in 2014. Volkswagen has to launch a new car, these deigns are a decade old now, when the Polo was launched the first gen Swift was on sale with the 1.3 petrol engine, look at the swift now its a totally different product.

Agreed that VW keep updating their cars to keep them fresh but for the layman it's the same old cars and he won't bat an eyelid at them anymore be it the Vento sport or the Polo GTi it's all the same to him.

Hoping the newer international versions get launched here sooner rather than later.

It took VW so long to get us a fully loaded Vento with all black interiors. This is the Vento GT.

I won't mind picking one up with the TSi + DSG against the current crop of C segment sedans. Too bad, they are charging Jetta money for it though!

re: The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

Volkswagen Vento Sport priced from Rs 11.44 lakh!

Quote:
Volkswagen has introduced the Vento Sport in the Indian market, priced starting at Rs 11.44 lakh. The TSI petrol-automatic costs Rs 12.79 lakh, the diesel-manual costs Rs 12.92 lakh and the diesel-automatic is priced at Rs 14.17 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India). Positioned above the Highline Plus variant, the Sport is now the new top-spec trim.

New on the Vento Sport are faux carbon-fibre finish to the outside mirrors, 16-inch 10-spoke Portago alloy wheels, black stickers on the doors and a glossy black finish on the roof and the lip spoiler, giving the car a dual-tone exterior.

The new variant features LED headlamps with daytime running lights and LED inserts in the tail-lamps. On the inside, equipment levels are on par with the Highline Plus trim. This means the Vento Sport features power adjustable and folding outside mirrors, chrome touches in the cabin, faux-leather seat upholstery, leather on the steering wheel and gearshift knob, a touchscreen infotainment system and a rear parking camera.

Powertrain options for the mid-size sedan, however, are the same. It gets the 105hp, 1.6-litre petrol mated to a five-speed manual, the 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel mated to a five-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic, and the 105hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Volkswagen is offering the Vento Sport on the MY2018 and MY2017 models. If the buyer opts for the older model, then benefits of up to Rs 1.2 lakh can be availed on the car, not including additional benefits of up to Rs 25,000 on bookings made before March 20, and exchange and loyalty benefits of up to Rs. 20,000.

Recently, the German brand also introduced a special edition of the Vento, named the All Star. The Vento rivals the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, and the Hyundai Verna.

Autocar missed to mention an important feature-RWD . VW should consider patenting this technology or write a whitepaper on how to do rear wheel burnouts on a FWD car.

The age of the platform notwithstanding, no weedy power trains on offer. Not even an option

Looks like the team at VW is heavily influenced by the good people over at Maruti. Possibly they thought they could up their sagging sales numbers with a few tips from the market leader?

Absolutely uninspiring changes, and an insult to the Sport moniker.

We should all be a sport to buy this so called "sport" edition.

14.17L translates to 16L on road? Oh, the prices

Re: The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

Volkswagen has brought a new variant with some or the other change/variation for each season in India. Though I am a die hard VW fan and proud owner of Polo GT, I am completely unhappy with there moves in India. 2009 was the year when vento and polo were launched and 2014 & 2015 respectively when they got there facelifts. In 9 years of long product cycle almost all the issues in earlier cars have been sorted but, due to lack of ‘new’ products they are suffering hugely in sales.

Nonetheless they are extremely happy with exports. Hope so when monsoon arrives, VW brings another edition named as “sports plus”

That would be the "Monsoon Edition". Probably will come with additional inflatable tubes and a couple of oars, given the fact that most cities are flooded with barely a centimeter of rain!

Re: The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs

Volkswagen has launched a limited-edition version of the Polo hatchback. The VW Polo Pace has been launched alongside the Vento Sport - a limited edition version of the mid-size sedan. The Polo Pace is offered in Comfortline trim and is priced at Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The VW Vento Sport edition. EDIT: Now launched at Rs.11.44 Lakhs-image-polo-pace.jpg

Unlike the Vento, which gets a gloss black roof and spoiler, faux carbon ORVMs, 16-inch Portago alloy wheels and decals, the Polo Pace only gets 15-inch, diamond cut alloy wheels. Inside, you get a 3-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel and a twin-pod instrument cluster. Besides, it gets an audio system with Bluetooth and i-Pod, USB and Aux-in connectivity options. Safety features like ABS and dual-front airbags are standard.

Mechanically, the Polo Pace is identical to the standard Polo. It comes only in a petrol variant and uses the new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine which produces 75 BHP @ 6,200 rpm and 95 Nm of torque @ 3,000-4,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
