Maruti Suzuki may completely move Brezza production to Toyota’s Bengaluru plant.

If the company goes ahead, this will be the first of its kind move as Maruti has not outsourced the production outside the Suzuki fold till now.

Toyota will get access to Brezza and will be allowed to sell the SUV under a different brand name starting 2022.

Toyota may have better fame globally, but talking about India, if both the manufacturers sell the same car except the brand name, why will I go to Toyota, when I am getting the same car from Nexa at a lower price (considering Toyota sells it at a higher price).
Moreover, in India Maruti has got workshop at the remotest village. Even local garage mechanic dares to work on a Maruti and not on a Toyota.

I feel rather than sharing models and confusing buyers, these brands should have swapped the models.

Under Toyota’s way of working things, if a service center promises delivery of the car within one hour then it is the same in any country and the car will be delivered within one hour after servicing. But that’s not necessarily the case at Maruti. That is why it is important to learn Toyota’s processes

Considering the utilisation factor of man power at Toyota from last couple of years, this is a good initiative from Maruti. This may save the lives of labors from an uncertain future.

Post April 2020, Toyota Altis will not be available for sale in India.

With that the badge- engineered program of Altis for Suzuki stands cancelled. With the segment showing a down slide the business case seem not viable.

I hope rather than just badge engineering the suzuki cars, toyota differentiate it based on safety and build quality (or atleast use the export variant). So that people who are willing to shell out extra for safety get an option.

Glanza is a stepping stone for Toyota and they will not compromise on Toyota values at all. I remember reading in TOI Pune edition (when both CEO's announced collaboration) that Toyota had started evaluation of MSIL vendors to confirm where they stood with respect to Toyota Quality.

Secondly, the next-gen Ciaz is the one that would be shared with Toyota and not this.

Toyota is planning to source more models from Suzuki.

- The vehicles sourced from Maruti Suzuki will be below Rs 10-lakh category and include hatchbacks and sedans.

- Toyota will invest Rs 1,500-2,000 crore in either re-badging or converting those vehicles into hybrid version.

-The vehicles will be used by Toyota for the domestic as well as the export markets

-Hybrid versions will also be shared with Maruti Suzuki.

- Toyota will provide Suzuki its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technologies in India through local procurement of HEV systems, engines and batteries.

- Maruti Suzuki — will be relying on Toyota for the large-sized vehicles (MPVs and SUVs)

So as per the latest news Toyota and Suzuki are readying to get into a much deeper and a long term alliance at a global level.
I believe with the way the Global Auto makers are facing disruptions on multiple fronts i.e. car ownership (Uber, Ola etc) Or Electric Car Or Autonomous Cars its best that the giants combine forces to come out stronger and in front. Interesting times ahead!

- India entered the list of top 10 markets for Toyota globally for the first time ever

- Plant 2 will be the sole manufacturing plant for Vitara Brezza in 2022( inducing for MS and export to S Africa.

- There will be collaboration on engine and hybrid system production too.

- Toyota will continue to offer diesel variants as long as the law permits.

- Will have hybrids and other future technologies including electric vehicles because Indian CAFÉ targets are like European targets.

With the Glanza, the company says, is doing better than expected.

More Suzuki models waiting to be badge-engineered are the Vitara Brezza SUV, Ertiga MPV and the Ciaz sedan.
