Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition launched at Rs. 86.90 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched a special edition of the GLS called the Grand Edition in India. The GLS Grand Edition is available with a choice of petrol or diesel engines, both priced at Rs. 86.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Compared to the standard GLS, the Grand Edition features a few cosmetic changes. It comes with automatic LED headlights with black rings and active and corner light function. The bonnet louvres get chrome fins, while the stock bumper with its large chrome insert has been carried over. The SUV rides on dual-tone 10-spoke, 20-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin of the GLS Grand Edition is equipped with certain features that are optional on the standard GLS. It comes with a heated 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with paddle shifters and 12 function keys. The steering wheel and airbag cover are wrapped in Nappa leather. It also features a redesigned twin-pod instrument cluster with a central MID, while the centre console houses an 8.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with COMAND Online. Rear seat entertainment system comprising of two 7.0-inch touchscreens is offered as standard on the Grand Edition. The rear screens are mounted on the front seat backs and support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mechanically, the Grand Edition models are identical to the standard GLS 400 petrol and GLS 350d diesel variants. The petrol version is powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine that produces 329 BHP @ 5,250-6,000 rpm and has a peak torque of 480 Nm @ 1,600-4,000 rpm. The diesel version comes with a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine that makes 255 BHP @ 3,400 rpm and 620 Nm @ 1,600-2,400 rpm. Both versions come equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The GLS Grand Edition also gets air-suspension.

Mercedes offers the GLS Grand Edition in 6 colour options with special Grand Edition badges- Citrine Brown Metallic, Designo Diamond White Bright, Cavansite Blue Metallic, Obsidian Black Metallic, Iridium Silver Metallic and Tenorite Grey Metallic. Interior upholstery options include ARTICO leather in black, espresso brown and ginger beige.

Mercedes has also announced service packages for the Grand Edition GLS 400 and GLS 350d, priced at Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 1,04,000 respectively. The packages cover maintenance costs for up to 2 years / unlimited km.

I really think Tbhp stop should making new threads for these 'limited edition' type models. They really have no significance on the bearing of the actual car, and do serve nothing but take up space on the servers.
