Some new bolt on bumpers and wheels and there you have it! A new facelift?
MS could have atleast given it a new motor.

Thanks for sharing. So, it looks like ZETA variant looses Auto headlamps too!

And it loses more.

Leather covered steering wheel, UV Cut glass, Puddle lamps, Day-night mirror, follow me home and premium key fob ( Gets cheaper looking DZIRE key fob instead ).

I am sure Maruti has cut corners in other discrete areas as well.

re: The Maruti Baleno Facelift, now launched @ 5.45 lakhs

I think this is a brilliant (Sad for Consumers) strategy from MSIL.

Stage 1 -- You have 4 variants. Sigma is just to show sticker price. Delta are taken by price conscious customers which is the biggest chunk. Zeta is the taken up by those who are not on a tight leash but still price conscious. As it has lots of additional features, value for money thing comes into picture. Alpha, the costliest one -taken by people who are easy on money. Also for people who need all the features and bling.

So what does MSIL do? They get back to board room and come up with a plan for facelift.

Stage 2 -- Sigma gets only cosmetic upgrades with not much of value addition. Little price rise ensures it is going to remain low priced. For Delta, add lots of features from Zeta and increase the price so that this looks really value for money. Now they have automatically lifted the price of best selling variant in the guise of facelift. Now comes the brutal strategy. Cut already available features from Zeta and ensure the Alpha have lots of exclusive features which becomes irresistible for many. So a good chunk of sales from Zeta will jump to either Alpha or Delta. Even if customer cuts his budget of Zeta and goes for Delta, it's still fine for MSIL since we are already paying the price of a Zeta but actually buying Delta. Now if you end up going to Alpha, it is a bigger payoff for them

They did the same with S-cross as well I guess so this is not surprising. Sad part is that Automatics have the highest price rise. It's even costlier than I20, the supposedly premium automatic hatchback in the segment. I kept on insisting my friend to wait for facelift when he was getting a 2018 car with discounts. He will end up spending close to 50-60K now! That he is sad is an understatement.

No offence, but looks like Maruti is has taken an oath to spoil good looking cars with facelifts.
I saw a side profile picture on facebook the other day and initially mistook the fog lamp housing for a dent on the front bumper.

The only thing worthy which would remotely classify this as an upgrade is the new infotainment system. Wonder if it would be a simple plug and play for existing owners, certainly hope so.

The rest is very uninspiring and the RS just looks terrible. Glad I got the older one.

They had to remove these features. In the outgoing model, touch screen infotainment system and LED Projectors were the highlights of top end variant and were provided exclusively in the Alpha. But now, the Zeta gets these two, so naturally, had to sacrifice few features here and there to distinguish Alpha.

------

Now that Maruti has given LED projectors even in the middle variants, we can expect competition to follow suit too. It is a significant and commendable move I believe.
Credit to be given to Maruti where its due.

re: The Maruti Baleno Facelift, now launched @ 5.45 lakhs

If you ask me 'Do you regret buying the Baleno some 20 days before the Facelift launch?' I would answer 'Not at all'. And in fact I saved some good amount of money with all those consumer offers before the price hike.

And if you ask me 'What do you like in the Facelift?'. I would say that I would like to get the new infotainment system and the new key FOB for my Alpha variant.

Being that said a big praise to MS who has made a strong statement stepping into the year 2019 by introducing those projector LEDs for all the variants other than sigma. This should give a tough time to the competitors at least for some period until they get their updated models.
