re: The Maruti Baleno Facelift, now launched @ 5.45 lakhs

Finally the Figo 1.5 Diesel will have a good competitor, provided the Baleno has about 110+ bhp and 230+ Nm of torque.

The Figo wears the crown of being the best performance hot hatch. Period. Its been alone, at the top for the Figo, with the current competitors being so weak.

[Under < 10 lakhs]

Also, the Baleno is way better equipped than the Figo apart from the 6 airbags thing. If Figo isn't updated with better interiors in the rumored update it is to get, then I believe Baleno will take away the crown soon

This move was very much expected as the 1.3 is not BS-VI compatible. This also gives us a hint that even after BS-VI implementation, maruti is not planning to kill small diesel engines. They are somehow working to minimise the cost impact so that small cars can still continue with diesel engines post BS-VI. Also, i believe that the 1.5 engine will be differently tuned for Baleno and Ertiga/Ciaz. This could be done in the interest of FE and differentiation. Even the current 1.3 is rated differently in Swift/Baleno and Ciaz/Ertiga. I expect them to carry the same differentiation forward.

Well this article doesn't talk anything about the new 1.5D coming up in the face lift in Q1 or am i missing something?

In another fresh news, I don’t think none of entry level Maruti cars currently equipped with Diesel motor will ever be upgraded to BS VI or will get a BS VI compliant engine at all as MSIL planning on ditching the diesel variants. So 1.5L D is still a doubt!

Yes some time when confirmed guess the title of the thread needs to be tweaked.

Maruti Suzuki's diesel could be available only from its mid- sized cars ( Ciaz and above ? )and here is the confirmation on that - Kenichi Ayukawa, MD of Maruti Suzuki

But does that not affect your own 1.5-litre diesel development?
We are going ahead with that for mid-size vehicles for the future.

Maruti Suzuki's Baleno ready for launch of it's facelift version. Speculated to arrive in the first half of January-19. Production is being told to have already begun.

The Baleno facelift model doesn’t come with any major changes as the front and rear bumper will be tweaked. The swept back projector headlamps with LED DRLs will be retained along with circular fog lamps. We can expect the company to update the design of alloy wheels.

Maruti will update Baleno with some new safety features like high-speed alert, which was first introduced in Ciaz and it can’t be turned off along with seat belt reminder and speed sensing auto door lock.
Later this year will be another facelift which will have changes to the power train with BSVI engine.( Engine + 6 MT). Diesel is expected to exit in the BSVI configuration.

The Facelift image by Gaadiwaadi is a crude effort of amalgamating the bumper profile of Ciaz facelift with Baleno. This is a simple photoshop render and not the facelift itself.

All I am praying is, it shouldn't be loaded with Chrome like most of the Maruti facelifts. The only thing wrong with the existing Baleno is the Alloy design.

Shashi

Honestly they shouldn’t call this a facelift if at all the redesigned bumper job pic is actually the one that’s coming out in real! It’s merely a lip-job, like the celebs get it done at their will & wish. MSIL should’ve done a better job to justify the term Facelift!

All I can see is its just a Photoshop of Baleno RS with Ciaz's front grill.

Please see the gun metal front lip and side skirts.

No need to give a 1.5 diesel on a light, heartech platform car, that would take off, first it needs higher safety before that happens. Cost is the saving grace though for customers in this case.

Hope they learn from Tata and Mahindra. Customers should get safer cars in existing driving environment.

Here is another rendering of the Maruti Baleno facelift. It's being claimed that the real deal would look entirely like the car seen below.
