Maruti Suzuki: New Swift & Baleno recalled for fault in brake vacuum hose

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki India Limited will undertake a Service Campaign for new Swift and Baleno models to inspect for a possible fault in the brake vacuum hose.

Around 52,686 new Swift and Baleno vehicles manufactured between 1st December 2017 and 16th March 2018 will be covered in this campaign.

Starting 14th May 2018 owners of the vehicles included in this service campaign will be contacted by dealers for inspection and replacement of the faulty part.

Service Campaigns are undertaken globally by automobile companies to rectify faults that may potentially cause inconvenience to customers.

The inspection and replacement will be done free of cost for the customer.

Customers of new Swift and Baleno are requested to fill in the chassis number (MBH followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) on the computer screen. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice / registration documents.

I verified the MBH number of my Swift ZXI+ and it does not fall as part of recall. Non ABS versions are more affected...? I have a hunch as this to be true.

ABS and Airbags are standard in New Swift and Baleno. There is no non ABS version. Was your car manufactured between December 1 2017 and 16th March 2018? Also it's a possible "fault", all the cars in this time period won't be affected.

After going through part descriptions and looking at the photographs, it seems that the non-return/ check valve (in the hose) is the culprit here. Any fault in that would lead to vacuum loss from booster, resulting in hard pedal.

The service bulletin calls for replacement of only one hose per vehicle but from photo it seems both hoses in circuit have been replaced. Is it the case ?

I think 2 hoses are included in the kit except for Baleno diesel and Baleno RS.
