There is no official announcement from Kia. Cannot go with speculations. They will be launching it post the Auto Expo and that is when one would know the real pricing.

I am sure like us, Kia has good marketing guys to know what is best suited for their product. We can only contemplate, wish and compare till there is an official announcement been made.

Agreed. But what you said about 'Premium for no competition is a crime' is true for the Innova too.

Neither of them are saints, however if competition forces both to eat their margins, then ultimately its the customer who wins

No reason for Kia to try so hard. Even toyota doesn't price Innova itself in this range. Besides, introductory pricing which will go up by 50% later is suicidal.

Being a Seltos owner, I was invited to the launch of the Carnival at our hometown dealership - Pressana Kia, Tirupur. The demo car was a Prestige 7-seater variant. One simply has to see the Carnival in person to truly understand the sheer size of it. The car is a looker and for an MPV that's 5+ meters long, the proportions are spot on.

There is ample space on the inside and the second row feels truly luxurious. I was skeptical of the sliding doors at first, but it made so much sense seeing and using it in person. With such a wide opening, it makes the ingress and egress an absolute breeze, I was able to practically walk into the car. It also ups the luxury quotient a lot. I'm 6'1 and was even able to access the 3rd row with ease. Some bits of the interiors felt a bit dated compared to the Seltos, especially the touchscreen unit on the front. I also prefer the Seltos' steering wheel to the one on this. But the Carnival makes up for it with the quality of materials, fit and finish. The plastics in particular felt way better than the Seltos.

If priced right, this will easily eat into the top end Innova sales. It's also the perfect upgrade for the existing Innova owners with large families, if he or she is okay with a Monocoque and FWD setup. No test drive vehicles are available yet.

Sub 4M SUV now cost 15-16L on road. Seltos/Creta, a segment above carries 2-4L premium, I don't see anything wrong in that. In 2005-2010 timeframe Corolla/Octavia/Civic used to cost 10-13L, while the Innova also used to cost same or slightly cheaper. The sedans are costing around 25-30L now, so is Innova. Surprised no one is speaking about premium pricing of D segment sedans! Atleast here in Karnataka, every car is overpriced-blame it on taxes, not the manufacturer. If a car is overpriced for what it offers, it would have bitten dust long time back.

Carnival might surprise KIA with sales numbers, is easily worth a 10Lac premium over Innova. The only problem i see, Innova has moved towards SUV'ish looks(still a VAN), while Carnival retains the old school VAN looks.

Wow, what a looker for a van and the front seats and dashboard layout makes it feel premium from the inside. I would never consider an Innova because if its taxi image and feel even if it looks so much better in its current avatar. I could have easily consider this if had not bought a Kodiaq recently although both are diff segments and can't be compared.
