Absolutely, a sales guy was pitching me a Vellfire and I told him to wait till I see this KIA. He shamelessly tried to compare this large car with Mahindra Marazzo which in past tried competing with Innova and failed. So in his opinion, Innova is far superior over Carnival. If Kia is indeed able to price 26-30 Lac, it will be a hard time for Toyota. God bless competition

Am I wrong in thinking that Toyota launching the Vellfire could be to protect Innova from Carnival since there is probably a sizable market for a luxury MPV? Maybe Toyota is looking to convince buyers Vellfire is the only upgrade for the current Innova owners or prospective owners.

With its massive dimensions, Carnival may not find many private buyers. It will be more popular with Corporates, Hotel chains, and not to forget, the taxi segment. Need to see sales split for Innova before commenting on what impact Carnival will make (but it won't be small for sure).

I would have loved to have this as an option when we picked our 3rd Innova in October. At that time, there was no real replacement for the Innova. Mazzaro and ertiga don't cut as they come across as cheaper alternatives. There is no real battle here.

Carnival's positioning should give tough fight to Innova.

My take on the info available on the Carnival details

• Am i right in reading Carnival is almost 2 feet longer and 10 cms wider than Innova/XUV? If yes, Mumbai/Bengaluru will be a serious issue for city driving. I for one have a very tight office parking where my XUV has just 2 cms left on each side on a ramp. The carnival cant even fit there
• Worried about turning radius on this size of vehicle
• The limo version is not for even large indian families
• Effectively this is not a MUV/XUV replacement to my mind. I dont think Mumbai/BLR can handle this vehicle for self drive daily use

Getting worried they may have read the market wrong.. Time will tell but I dont see this doing much over and above premium taxi/hotel pickups

It may not 'appear' like a big deal, but stinginess on items like these really rob away a car from its premium feel. At the speculated price of more than 25L on road, leather wrapped steering should have been standard.

Missing is rain sensing wipers, Passenger seat ventilation and seat electrical adjustments. These should have been offered in top variant at least. International variants get 360 degree camera. KIA should not cut costs for vehicle costing 30 big ones

Looks like a stunner and I wish I had the need or the moolah to buy one. This is going to give large families a more luxurious and spacey option than the Crysta. I feel it will do well. Look at it like this - if this was Toyota bringing in any of their similar MUVs, they would price it easily 10L more out of sheer arrogance.

Frankly the Vellfire may get quickly consigned to the rare, weird and wacky thread given the USP / quotient the Carnival delivers. Kudos to KIA and thank God for competition!

Only Driver Seat gets Electrical Adjustments with Seat Ventilation. Passenger seat has to do manual.
