It would be priced around 40 lakh, if it comes as a CKD.

They did not display it at the Indian auto expo though, so they probably won't launch it here
The Telluride hadn't been revealed back then.

I was contemplating this vehicle for some time, when i went through the dimensions in the international website, i thought of the same. At 5115mm, its a clear chauffeur driven car. Thats why the rear reclining and extending seats and a big iPad like screen etc. So for me its a drop from the list. Anything >4800 is not on my list. :-(

Unfortunate, i would have loved to own it. Hope something changes when it gets launched.

Here in US Kia Carnival or Sedona as called here ranges from $27k to $41k for top end while Telluride ranges from $31k to $43k for top end AWD approx.

Based on how they price Carnival I believe there is a niche market for 3 row SUVs like Telluride competing with Fortunner. It is a big vehicle and could give good competition if they could find a way to price it competitively. Bummer is it is only made in US for now and I don't think they are considering it for other markets as of now due to sheer size .

May be a Telluride inspired Sorento might be a better choice !!

Telluride seems a one whole segment bigger than the fortuner and has very butch looks, especially the front. If Kia can bring it to India at the same price as the fortuner, I think it can completely destroy both Fortuner and Endeavour.
Sheer size and road presence are the biggest selling points for big SUVs in India.

The Telluride is a competitor for the Ford Explorer. So, unfortunately, it's a model that's more suited to North America and Middle East than markets like Europe and India. A more suitable model for India would be the Sorento which comes with a Diesel engine.

I had test driven this (Kia Sedona in the US) while looking for a minivan here. Definitely liked this due to it's shape and features. But dropped it due to non-availability of all-wheel-drive and dropped the whole idea of buying a Mini-van itself later.
Yes this is definitely a segment or two larger than Innova - seen the Kia Sedona in Canada. This competes with Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey here. Much more spacious than Innova.
But if they manage to price it anywhere closer to Innova, it should make Toyota rethink their price premium charged for Innova.

KIA doesn't have an RHD version of Telluride AFAIK. Hence, it making to the Indian shores in the near future is highly unlikely.

Had an update from my Kia SA who confirmed that he had gone through training on Kia Carnival. Looks like it's launch is imminent.

re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

To make a strong case for the Kia Carnival to compete against Toyota Innova, Kia should consider re-introducing the now discontinued Short Wheel Base(SWB) variant. This variant was around 4.8m in length. A Short Wheel Base variant can be priced below Innova Crysta.

EDIT:
OT: Kia also had a smaller mini MPV, Kia Rondo in Australia. Looking the success of the mini-MPVs in India, Kia should consider launching one based on the Rondo!

re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Spotted the Kia Carnival in flesh today for the first time and oh boy does it look nice.
Peeped in through the car's driver window only to realise it was being driven by a company chauffer.
Well , since we 're talking chauffer's , the one in control of my car thought it was a Land Cruiser

I don't think Carnival is going to price anywhere near the Innova, infact it might be close to Fortuner in terms of pricing.

After looking at the 'spottings' photos the Vehicle does look 'Innova sized', rather than the 5+ meter vehicle seen in reviews. But images are deceptive for sure.
If they do consider the SWB version, then it won't have the 4th row and the vehicle becomes another 7/8 seater in the race.

re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Was thinking of the Carnival as a future purchase, but the 5+ meter length has put me off. Infact the Toyota Innova is very difficult to drive within the cities due to its size, and this is larger. Also, the current generation Carnival is infact older than the current generation Toyota Innova, and Kia follows a shorter life cycle for their cars and the next gen Carnival ought to come by 2022. And on top of all this, this is going to more expensive than the Innova, and in the end will make the Innova 2.8Z appear more VFM.
