I am one of those people who would love such a vehicle given I have the money to spend. We are a big family and we like to travel together. With kids, its a lot of luggage as well. I can just fold the fourth row and have the best luggage space I can get for any 8 seater car.

Ditto ! Given that the vehicle falls into the budget when I am in the market for a 7/8 seater, its a great buy. There is a lot of pros. Remove a couple of seats, you've a great vehicle with plenty of leg space (elders in the family would love it), luggage space, plush ride (I'm hoping) and premium feel as well.

NDTV gets to drive the Grand Carnival in India, even though it's not been made clear to them if the MPV is confirmed to launch in the Indian market.

I'm sure the 6000 / month sales figures of the expensive Crysta is raising some eyebrows across manufacturers.

Not sure if this has been discussed earlier, but how come they are running with those stock dark tints / rear windows? even though these are not officially launched.

Here comes potential Innova challenger (killer ?) The car has an uncanny similarity to its proven rival.

It would be curious to see how India accepts sliding door MPV.

Kia is aiming its dart in most happening segments of Indian auto industry.

Kia Carnival Launch in India confirmed for 2020

Kia Carnival MPV launch in India confirmed for 2020. For some time it was being guessed anyway after it was spotted testing in early January by BHPians and on news. But it will be interesting to see the demand for this expensive yet a luxury redefining car in expected 25-30 lakh segment in Indian market.

Here is the link to the news.

The Carnival would not be a Taxi favourite like the Toyota Innova Crysta. One, the reliability, service costs of Toyota would be a very compelling factor for fleet operators. Secondly, the Innova being based on a traditional ladder on frame module is more apt for abuse by cabbies.

The Carnival however would make a compelling choice for personal users. Almost all business families, top level executives love to have an Innova in their garage for sure, probably as a second car or even third! And these folks do not shy away from spending 25-28L on a top spec Innova. If Kia can price the Carnival somewhere close to the mid and top end variants of the Crysta with better features then Kia would certainly draw a lot of customers from the Crysta.

re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Having recently booked the Innova, I did think if it would be better if I had waited for the carnival to be launched in 2020. But then again, thought that Kia service network is yet to be established here and may take another 2 years and there are rumours that considering the luxury aspect is several notches higher in carnival it may also be priced in 30-35L bracket which would make it out of my budget. This car may give better comfort though for regular city and highway rides than innova and fortuner but read that it's area of improvement is ground clearance.

Kia Carnival and Venue/Brezza Rival coming in 2020

Quote:
The Kia Carnival will be the first of two cars that Kia Motors will bring to India next year. The 2020 line-up will kick-start with the Kia Carnival luxury MPV to take on the Toyota Innova Crysta and will also include the second volumes model - QYI subcompact SUV.

The current generation Carnival will be made at Kia's Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh. It will make its market debut at the February 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, with deliveries commencing within the same month.

The reason is that Kia wants to establish the Carnival as the luxury benchmark in the segment, by topping the Toyota Innova Crysta on features. So expect not just the electrically sliding rear door, and leather seating, but also a large sunroof, an 8 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car app and internet services (UVO Connect), and ambient lighting. Kia is also considering offering the air purifier option as seen on the Seltos already. Besides this the car will also sport multiple airbags, isofix child seat anchors, active and passive safety features like EBD, ABS, and traction control. For long distance driving there will be active cruise control and of course it goes without saying that the Carnival shall offer a 7 or 8 seat layout. Engine duties will be supplied by a 2.2 litre diesel, with automatic being standard.

The third model from Kia will also be another global car that will have its world debut in India. And it too will be made in India from scratch - initially for domestic sales, but eventually also exports. This is the is the subcompact SUV codenamed QYI (also called QY internally). This will complement the Kia Seltos to beef up the company's already strengthening reputation in SUVs, and will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, and Tata Nexon. Market launch - July 2020.

It is also likely to come in with more than one automatic transmission option - with petrol likely to dominate the model mix. Of course it will share engines with the Hyundai Venue too, with the focus being more on the 1.0 turbo GDI petrol, than the other offerings. The Kia QYI will also sport the touchscreen and UVO Connect options, along with connectivity, safety and creature comforts - in line with the Seltos product offering.
Pretty interesting times ahead for Kia. The Carnival won't be a volumes product but more importantly, it'll seek to top the Innova Crysta features wise and try and be a credible alternative. The cSUV should do well, as long as it's priced correctly. Hyundai and Kia's gameplan is a win-win.

Re: Kia Carnival and Venue/Brezza Rival coming in 2020

Carnival is a competition to Toyota Sienna in global markets which is much bigger and better than Innova Crysta. Innova is horribly over priced in India and if Carnival is priced in Innova's rage, then there will be no takes for Innova.
