Lexus adds the LX570 with the 450 diesel in its line up. It comes with a V8 petrol engine and is launched for 2.32 crore. The power output is around 390bhp and 550nm of torque.

They had imported one car for homologation and was on display at Lexus Gurgaon recently. Perhaps, they could have learned from the past especially LX and priced less than 2 but it appears they are not at all concerned with sales. 8 Cylinder Diesel is a very good engine and works well with the 6-speed gearbox. This one even with an 8-Speed Gearbox will be a fuel guzzler in our traffic. Extra 2 seats will serve a very niche segment which must have multiple vehicles in their convoy already

Another dud in my opinion.

I sat in the launch model back when it arrived and it truly felt special inside. It was leaps and bounds above the LC in shape, texture, quality and general feeling of luxury.
Now, whether that premium over the LC that Lexus expects an individual to pay is debatable. Barring few isolated units I dont see this selling in our country.

2018 Lexus LX 570 launched at Rs. 2.32 crore

Lexus has launched the 2018 LX 570 SUV in India, priced at Rs. 2,32,94,000 (ex-showroom).



The Lexus LX 570 features body-on frame type construction similar to its sister car, the Toyota Land Cruiser. It measures 5,080 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,865 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,850 mm. It comes equipped with a 138-litre fuel tank.



While the LX 570 has similar proportions as the Land Cruiser, it does get a tweaked front end featuring a large grille with horizontal slats. It has triple-pod LED headlights with V-shaped LED DRLs, while the bumper houses L-shaped fog lamps. The SUV has squared-off wheel arches and chrome trim around the windows. The rear features L-shaped LED tail lights with the reverse lights placed on either side of the number plate. The rear bumper has an integrated step and rear fog lamps.



The Lexus LX 570 has similar dual-tone interiors as the LX 450d diesel variant. It comes with a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with a twin-pod instrument cluster. The centre console consists of a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system with 11.6-inch LCD displays for rear seat passengers. Other features include a moon-roof, cruise control, 4-zone automatic climate control with Lexus Climate Concierge, power adjustable seats and rain-sensing wipers among others.



The LX 570 is powered by a 5.7-litre, V8 petrol engine that produces 362 BHP @ 5,600 rpm and 530 Nm of torque @ 3,200 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift and an all-wheel drive system. It has Multi-terrain Select with different modes for specific road conditions in addition to a 5-speed Crawl Control, which adjusts torque and brakes on each wheel independently for optimal traction. The SUV rides on 18-inch aluminium wheels shod with 285/60 section tyres.



The standard safety equipment includes airbags, ABS with brake assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control, front and rear parking sensors and a Multi-Terrain Back Monitor System with 4 cameras.

Such bad product decisions always remind me of the signboard we see at some restaurants that reads "the owner of this restaurant also eats here".

Lexus India's top executives should ask themselves one simple question - If they were customers in the market, would they pay over 2.5 crores on the road for a petrol SUV which is an 11-year old design generation? I think we all know the answer to that.

What an utterly pointless launch that just makes Lexus seem like a joke. I could buy TWO competing SUVs for the same money.

I am just wondering if this is just a marketing gimmick where they put such obscene prices to set the buyer psychological level for a Lexus at a certain point so that eventually when they are keen to get volumes they can launch at a "discount" from these levels and show "value" to the buyer.

If I am correct LX 570 comes with 138 Ltr fuel tank. At 84 Rupees it is almost 12K for a tankful. This should be tagged as a national waste! I am trying to understand what is Toyota/Lexus trying to prove here. Are they competing against the RR's or do they think the LX can beat Porsche GT3 in terms of performance.

At this price it obviously means Toyota Lexus is willing to put up with single digit sales per annum.

My brother in the UAE who currently has a Volvo S60 is deciding between this Lexus and the Land Cruiser LC 200 with the 5.7 V8 engine option. The LX-570 (and LC 200) cost less than 1/2 the India price in the UAE courtesy low duties and taxes. And then there are the attractive showroom discounts.

I've told him to take his time to decide and even seriously consider a used Lexus LX 570 to obtain max bang for the buck.

As with all Lexus', besides the ES300h, it is highly overpriced. I don't know what they are thinking. It seems they are not even trying to be competitive. Well you know what Lexus, this won't sell either.

When a RR Vogue with a good spec costs less, and the Landcruiser is a full crore cheaper (for someone who wants a no nonsense luxury SUV) I cannot fathom who would want this.

Looks you have not even checked the Canadian market LX retails at 109,00 CAD fully loaded but does command a long wait most of the time - anywhere between 3-5 months.

RR - Vogue is also 2 Cr plus and it quickly goes over 2,5 when some options are ticked.

I got a chance to drive LC and LX for an extended time and had almost bought the LX before I lost that deal by a whisker to someone else. It certainly is a large amount for enthusiasts. Technically, this is not a car which should be considered by the EMI guys like me who cannot sign the full amount so perhaps it was for good that I missed.

LX rides far better than LC - Body roll is much more contained in LX. Last Year they have added sports and sports mode in LC as well besides LX roof is lower than LC which helps it ride more stable at high speed.

They should have priced LX at around 1,70-185 Cr which might have enticed some buyers from LC.

Do you think guys who have 2,5 Cr to spend on a car will worry about the petrol, I have seen people having a couple of drinks at star hotels and spending X times this amount, at least here they can drive 500-600 km assuming you get 5 Kmpl.

Should not matter as everything is related with USD. Most of their products are indeed made in Japan but few like RX are now being made in Canada

Regardless, this is crazy pricing by Lexus. Don't really understand their game plan for the Indian market. They could sell way more cars if they can get their pricing right. Their products are excellent for the vast majority of the luxury car buyers market.

I think they know they cannot beat Germans on the price so why not sell lower quantities at a premium. Unfortunately, they are asking too much premium which is hard to justify whatever reasons you have to stay away from Germans.

Not trying to be the devil's advocate, but this could partly be explained by the fact that the Yen to Rupee conversion is stratospheric.

Also maybe the Lexus plants in the US, help drive down costs in the US market.
Wikipedia says that the LX is manufactured only in Japan though so I am myself not sure about this point.

Regardless, this is crazy pricing by Lexus. Don't really understand their game plan for the Indian market. They could sell way more cars if they can get their pricing right. Their products are excellent for the vast majority of the luxury car buyers market.

Interesting to know that, but I visit Canada often (Toronto specifically) but honestly haven't seen many around.

Lexus is punching way, way above its weight class here. As GTO said its better to buy 2 competing SUV's with the price of this "LX570" and even there one would be overpaying for them both. If brand halo or having a status symbol is necessary, its much, much better to pay nearly double and get a RR Ghost.

Lexus came and in a single stroke, made brands like Maserati, Range Rover, Jaguar and perhaps ever Aston Martin seem like value for money. Suprisingly, Mercedes (the very reason Toyota started the Lexus spinoff to compete with and undercut in price), Audi and BMW look like very easily achievable targets compared to Lexus in India *facepalm*.

That L logo and the spindle grille on a car this massive will give me nightmares. Its hugely imposing but its absolutely the cruelest pricing known to mankind, specially for a brand that plays below the "big 3".
