Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched

Datsun is reportedly planning to launch the GO and GO+ facelift in India around September 2018.

The updated GO hatchback and GO+ MPV are already on sale in Indonesia. The cars get redesigned front bumpers with black inserts and chrome highlights as well as vertical LED DRLs. The front grille has a chrome frame and comes with a new mesh design. The car gets redesigned headlights and higher variants ride on 14-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors have also been updated with a new dual-tone dashboard and a redesigned centre console with new air-conditioning vents. The new cars get a touchscreen infotainment screen and a covered glove box. The 3-spoke steering wheel gets silver trim and the instrument cluster comes with a new tachometer. The front bench seat has been replaced with two separate seats. The two seats are now separated by the handbrake lever, which was earlier placed on the centre console.

Details about the India-spec Datsun GO and GO+ facelift are scarce. However, media reports suggest that the Indian version might get features like electric mirror adjust, power windows, rear washer and wiper, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger airbags and ABS. Both models are likely to use the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which makes 67 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm which is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Datsun GO facelift spotted testing

The first spy image of the Datsun GO facelift has surfaced online showing the rear of a heavily camouflaged test mule.

Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched-datsun-go-faceliftspy-shot.jpg

Earlier this year, we had reported that Datsun was planning to launch facelift versions of the GO and GO+ in September 2018. The updated models are already on sale in Indonesia. The cars receive a new grille with a chrome frame and a redesigned front bumper with integrated LED DRLs. The headlights have also been revised and higher variants are offered with 14-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside, the updated models get dual-tone dashboards with a redesigned centre console featuring a touchscreen infotainment system. The air-conditioning vents have been reprofiled and the cars now get covered glove boxes. The front bench seat has been replaced with two separate seats with the handbrake lever in between.

Datsun is expected to make similar changes to the India-spec GO and GO+. The carmaker might also add new features like electric ORVMs, power windows, rear washer and wiper, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger side airbags and ABS.

In India, the Datsun GO facelift is expected to use the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine as offered on the current model. It makes 67 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

re: Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched

IMHO this doesn't feel like a FACELIFT of Go Plus.
This seems to be the Go Cross.
An OEM would not camouflage the whole vehicle but mostly the front & rear in case of a Facelift.

Most of the features seem similar to the Indonesian spec facelift including Alloy Wheels and Rear Washer-Wiper, but the ORVMs don't have Turn Indicators like in the facelifts launched there. No news yet regarding the CVT or AMT gear box as well.

re: Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched

Another difference in the new Go Plus seems to be ELR type to Rear Seat Belts for the 2nd row, as opposed to hanging type seat belts in the current car. Maybe taken from the recently updated Renault Kwid!

Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched-51.jpg
Notice the Hanging Type Seat Belt in the 2nd Row

Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched-61.jpg
Notice the self-rolling ELR Type Seat Belt in the 2nd Row

The 3rd row occupants may still have to keep content with just Lap Belts in the name of a safety feature, as they will still sit quite close to the Rear Hatch and the last row of seats are devoid of even Integrated Headrests, let alone Height Adjustable ones.

Rumour: Datsun Go & Go+ facelift launch within a month

Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched-datsun-go.jpg

The Datsun GO and GO+ facelift are likely to be launched within a month. The new models will be based on the same platform but will get updated exteriors and interiors. Our sources tell us that the top-end variant of the GO is expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system.

Test mules of the new Datsun GO were spotted last month. The spy images suggest that the car is likely to have similar proportions to the outgoing model. The test car was spotted with 5-spoke alloy wheels and ORVMs without integrated turn signals.

Mechanically, both the new GO and GO+ are expected to be identical to the current models. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine produces 67 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

re: Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched

I don't understand the logic behind giving machine cut alloys and DRLs but not proper seats with headrests. No Parcel tray or modern door handles.
Efforts should be made to make a economy car feel premium and not snazzier with useless stuff.
On a positive note providing touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple Car play in this segment is good move.
Other welcome changes are conventional hand brake rather than pull out type one, tachometer, rear wash and wipe.

Looks like power adjustable mirrors at least on offer.

The definition of 'premium' varies. Honestly, looking at some of these (alloys / touchscreen / power mirrors), a good chunk of the buyers in segment will see it as a premium product compared to a bl**dy ancient "feeling" Alto.

Edit:: I like the dash layout and also the console. Even the odo meter looks nice. Plus, I believe I see a one touch down driver window, lock / unlock door and window lock switches. And the screen look quite responsive too. All in all, enough and more to make an impression for a potential (first time) customer in the segment.

New seats will mean a lot of R&D expenditure - time & money wise. Also, safety ratings might change with a new seat design - not that it would matter too much in the Zero Star Go!!

Alloys and DRLs are just cut & paste jobs which catch the eye better than headrests or parcel trays! Only the Indian consumers are to blame!

Alto is ancient however Maruti keeps a hold on numbers by offering discounts. That way Kwid also touched 10k numbers but now it is doing between 4-5 k only. Maruti is now even offering discounts on Baleno, Dzire and Swift.
I will put my money on Tiago which is a much better product and feels a segment above.

re: Datsun GO, GO+ facelift coming in September 2018. EDIT: Launched

Addressing the safety concern is a good move by Datsun; hope they have also worked on the overall strength of underpinning for better rigidity of the chassis.

Together Go & KWID have established themselves as alternate to MSIL Alto which is certainly good for the entry level / first time buyers.
