| ![]() Is a petrol SUV that popular in our country? If anyone in the forum can share the numbers of petrol SUVs sold vs the diesel SUVs. I am sure it would be in 30:70 ratio for petrol:diesel (only SUVs). A petrol only strategy for sedan can be dealt with, but for SUVs it has to be diesel. And to answer to "are we prepared to pay 1.6 lakhs INR for diesel SUV" for me would be heck yeah, if the engine is that good and the car overall is worth the money |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Presenting the T CROSS- Exposed and ready for unveil. Rivaling the current crop of C-SUV's in India, expect the car to carry the same design cues when it will debut in 2020 . Expect Skoda version of the compact to be Visually different ( Vision X concept) T cross is unmistakably a VW - with SUV design traits - such as the grille - the T-Cross should stand out at the bottom of the brand's line-up. Essentially, the T-Cross is a Polo SUV, but it hasn't taken any of its design direction from the firm's supermini. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Source: + autocar Last edited by suhaas307 : 24th January 2019 at 14:41. | ![]() The T-Cross looks good from the front and side profiles. But the rear has a very striking resemblance to the Polo. I also hope the dimensions are not too compact. When I saw the Tiguan in person, it did not look bigger than a Creta. So hope VW does make the T-Cross in the right dimensions. |

| ![]() It looks like skoda is at least becoming more responsive when it comes to test drives and enquiries which was not the case 4 years ago (I was refused a TD of octavia and so I went and bought a jetta). Raised a request for TD through skoda website, got a call back from call center within 10 minutes and the dealer called me yesterday and arranged a test drive of kodiaq today.. lets see how that goes Hyundai was still better as they got the tucson for TD within a day of asking. Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Skoda KOSMIQ is likely to be the small CUV which will join VW's T Cross that is built on the MQB-A0 Platform. A spin-off of this will come to India as the brand's first CUV in mid 2020. Quote:

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Known news being formalized. VW lines up 4 models under India 2.0 project from 2021. CUV and Sedans in the product mix. - The four models include a SUV and a sedan under the Volkswagen brand and the same for Skoda. -The first of these models could be launched in or around March 2021 Quote:

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() More details of the VAG future products for India . No diesel variants planned. Skoda CUV( Vision X-based )----> VW CUV(T Cross)---> Skoda sedan ( Rapid replacement)--> VW Virtus CUV's : No diesel powertrain, possible CNG variants. 1.5-litre TSI petrol : 130 hp, and priced under 20 lakhs, ` 4.19 m l and will rival Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier , Nissan Kicks, etc T Cross will likely be similar to the Brazilian variant, will have parts shared between the 2 CUV's. Sedans: Powered by the same 1.5-litre TSI petrol, and will have no diesel engines on offer. Last edited by volkman10 : 29th November 2018 at 19:13. |

Surprising! Why no Diesel engines? Purely because of the emission scandal? This could be very risky for Skoda and VW. In spite of the recent skew towards petrol, Skoda has a higher sales of diesels. This is because the market understands that Skoda does not make good efficient petrol engines and does have decently powered diesels. So if they decide not to launch the diesels, then there better be competitive turbo petrol engines on offer, else its game over for Skoda and VW even before it actually begins! Also, I do not understand this reasons for completely avoiding diesels. India as a market will have a decent diesel market for the next 5-7 years at least. Skoda and VW are already struggling for market share, why narrow your customer base even further? Rather should they not bring in a diesel, maybe have more petrol engine options and slowly phase out diesels when the time is right? | |
