God HELP!!!
The only people to blame are the Indian luxury car buyers. BMW is completely going by the sales data of Mercedes. (which may or may not be the right thing to do).

In the US, all 3 and 5 seriess are offered with manuals.

5 series pricelist

Ex-Thane -Indiviual
525i = 43 lakhs
525d= 45 lakhs
530i = 48 lakhs

Delivery in July due to upcoming facelift. No CBU models for the 5 series as mentioned in ACI that first batch would be imported, all CKD.

I am a bit disappointed by BMW's engine offerings at this price compared to MB's 280s. They ought to have given us the 528(240bhp) and 535(twin turbo 300bhp) engines which are due to change on the facelifted 5 series abroad.

That being said,looking at the current scenerio the 530i is being pitched at a 5lakh premium over the 525i, just for 40 more horses and 1 second quicker to 100km/hr. I really dont see the point of creating such a large price gap btwn the two petrol engines.

delivery in July!!! wow thats a long wait, but still 43lacs is a good price, so after budget and in Delhi 525i should cast around 40-41lacs. tempting???

Good point. Internationally the price difference is within $4000 (1.8 lacs) and unless the 530 comes with a lot more gizmos...its probably not worth the differential.

boooo...i wanted the 335i to come here...but the 325i is by no means bad, well at least now in E90 form. The color choice is a dissapointment though, but im happy to see Monaco Blue on offer.

The only additional gizmos the 530i is 18inch alloys compared to 17inch on the other models and a sportier steering wheel. I guess i can live without those two without a fuss.

The dilemma is 525i or 525d???

DEvarshi , No offense meant but this news date is 22/12/06 which is quite old and as per GTO's spec/price sheet even 5-series is going to be released in India.

BMW to kick off India production next month
Spurred by record sales in Asia last year, German luxury car major BMW said on Thursday that it would start assembling cars in India next month and expects to produce 1,000 vehicles in the first year of operation.

BMW's plant in Chennai is the group's fifth factory in Asia and will make 3 and 5 series luxury sedans for the Indian market.

"It will be around 1,000 units this year and we'll bring it up to the plant's capacity of 1,700 next year," BMW management board member Michael Ganal told journalists after a news conference in Singapore

If they manage a 1000 units in the first year, thats not bad at all, considering Merc is at 2200 p.a. with 10+ years in India.

P.S. Spotted a black C Class too on Santacruz Link road (8877).
