SCOOP! BMW Spec sheet for India. 3 series & 5 series

So its the 320i, 325i and the 320d that are confirmed. With the 5 series, the range is going to include the 523i, 525i, 530i and the 525d. Thats some range of engines to begin with......they are going to have the 25 - 45 lakh segment covered!

Also the dealership question for Mumbai. Infinity is opening a showroom in the Prabhadevi / Worli area by February.

Blinds for side windows, memory function on seats, parktronics, Xenons, on-board monitor with TV, 17 inch alloys.....and I am only talking about the 3 series! Man, they got Mercedes covered with the extras.

Also, they did finally offer the runflats on the 5.

Wow that seems like quite a heavily loaded spec-list. Would definetely be a surprise for the Mercs which have been selling cars with low equipment & sad engines till recently. Let the war begin, I'm already excited about this matchup!!!

yup run flats are slightly bad compare to other tires at least on my car. anyways any detail about prices???

Thats really a neat package for the 3 series itself. Leaves little extra that is added for the 5 series.

GTO, any information on the engine specifications, dimensions etc..

You heard that right! I drove a Mini Cooper S in Toronto and the ride was really bumpy especially at slow speeds. On rough patches it even got bone jarring! On smooth roads and high speeds there is no problem but where are smooth roads and expressways in India?

The spec sheet is impressive. At least now Merc will be forced to spruce up their cars which have been pretty "basic" when it comes to features. BUT, ACI was right. There is no manual and I don't understand why BMW is doing this. Come on, they sell manuals in the AT capital of the galaxy : North America and they decide to chuck out MT in India! If I was in the market for a car in this price range, I'd wait for the new Merc C class.

Even Audi disappointed me with their insistance on the 1.8T engine on the A4. Give us the 2.0 TFSI! Maybe the entry of BMW will force them into action!

You can say that again. The weird looks + auto tranmission rules out any BMW in my garage. Period.

But they would have their reasons...especially seeing Mercedes. The only merc manual is the C Class; even then 90% of C Class' sold in India are automatic.

Goldie BMW engine specs are more or less same all over the world so these would be the standard spec engines:

320i- 2.0 Petrol - 150bhp@6200rpm; 200nm@3600rpm
320d- 2.0 Diesel -140bhp@4000rpm; 340nm@2000rpm
325i- 2.5 Petrol -218bhp@6500rpm; 250nm@2750-4250rpm

520i - 2.0 Petrol - 150bhp@6200rpm; 200nm@3600rpm
523i - 2.5 Petrol - 174bhp@5800rpm; 230nm@3500rpm
530i - 3.0 Petrol - 255bhp@6600rpm; 300nm@2500rpm

They might change a bit but mostly should remain similar for India spec. Also I think the 325i/530i are going to be pretty quick to drive!!

Where did you get this? The 2.0 diesel is 160bhp+

It is disappointing to know that BMW is not offering MT because that would be a blast to drive. Most of the people who buy 25L+ cars in India don't drive themselves so I guess it doesn't matter to them if the car offers MT or AT.

It would be interesting to see the competition between BMW & Mercs. Mercs have more snob value and BMWs are more fun to drive. However in India most of the people who buy 25L+ cars, buy for the snob value so BMW must offer more features than Merc at a similar price point to effectively compete with Merc. The above is probably not true for 7 series which has a great reputation among the seekers of snob value.
