They are targetting some really agressive pricing. 5 Lakhs on road!!!

Read more about it here.

Hopefully Maruti and others take this as a pointer to not price their diesel hatches too steep and update their products in the entry sedan segment.

Also, the diesel version of the car (1.5 litre engine), slated to be launched later on, will offer stiff competition to the Tata Indigo, Hyundai Accent and Verna diesels as well as the yet-to-be-launched Maruti Swift diesel.
An important thing to note, perhaps they are waiting for the dicor indigo launch to decide on what logan's engine and pricing strategy should be.

Also with diesel expected to bring in more sales in this segment mahindra renault may just not be able to handle the volumes involved so soon.

I saw a Logan in deep red / maroon with temporary plates outside the Mahindra offices near the Royal Bombay Yatch Club at Colaba last evening. It was dark & I was also in a bit of a hurry so I couldn't make out much or take a picture.

However, it was a Renault Logan, & not a Mahindra Renault Logan, according to the badging.

Also, if they launch both petrol as well as diesel together, the petrol model sale would definitely get hit...so better option is to launch petrol first, then after some time, diesel...

Any idea on the technical specs. and standard features of the Logan? The ET article makes a mention of the 1.4L; however, are they introducing the 1.6L, too?

I believe that the Ex-showroom price of 4.5 lakhs, is for the entry level 1.4L. Just curious what price-tag the 1.6 will carry.

End of premium hatches?

Price of 5.0 - 5.5 L on road for petrol(?). Will it be end of premium hatches like Swift/Getz/UVA/Palio? May be even WagonR/Zen/Santro top versions?

hi guys! this is my first post in the forum! great to see that logan has awoked such a good response in such a short time! am currently waiting for the launch de logan! planned to buy the indigo but have been held back due to this! was expecting the indigo to be launched with the dicor engine! sadly they have launched dicor only in the indigo xl (india's supposed to be first limo) which costs hall of a lot! for me but i think its worth the price for the technology incorporated and the features given!but exsisting indigo witha dicor engine is due only in august!sadly to say!

i got fabulous information bout the logan from this forum... greatful for that! the right hand drive picture was great! so hoping that the logan will launch soon.......i bid you guys goodbye for now!

yours truly,

Mahindra Logan: All set for launch

Source: DNA - Money - With Logan, Mahindra readies for urban road-test - Daily News & Analysis

Less than a week before the launch of its first passenger car, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra and its dealers are giving finishing touches to something they haven’t done for a long time - urban car retailing.

Of the five Logan showrooms opened in Mumbai (another two will open in three months), three are former M&M dealers. "We will launch the Logan through 120 showrooms, of which about 11 are new," Jejurikar said.

Ashok Bhavsar, director, Bhavsar Motors (a spanking new Mahindra Renault outlet in Prabhadevi, central Mumbai), said he hasn't been given a product brochure yet, though he has seen the Logan at the Mahindra-Renault Nashik plant. “The cars and the brochures would be delivered to us only next Tuesday," he said.

That's when Carlos Ghosn, the legendary chief executive of Renault and Nissan Motors will take the wraps off three Logans: the 1.4 litre petrol, the 1.5 litre diesel, and 1.6 litre petrol variants.
With market penetration the primary objective, bets are that the base Logan model will carry an aggressive price-tag - of under Rs 5 lakh. Expect segment leaders Tata Motors and Maruti to react to that.

It would be interesting to know what will be the pricing of diesel version. Will they be able to trigger price war.
