hmm... we have an interesting year ahead in the automotive scene.
hope they dont have huge waiting period like swift diesel.(or is it a strategy??)

if they price the diesel appropriately, it can give swift diesel a run for its money.i feel the swift is being sold at a premium right now.time to wake up Mr.khattar!

4.99 lakhs would be ex-showroom. On-road price would be close to 5.5 lakhs.

Well this is my speculation:
1.4 Petrol - 4.6 L ex showroom
1.5 Diesel - 5.5 L ex showroom
1.6 Petrol(Fully loaded) - 5.4 L ex showroom

Base Model diesel or Petrol costing 5 lac ? Though logan has 2 things TATA is failing. Its gonna provide common rail @~6 Lac + Its better looking than TATA. But still Logan has to work hard to bust tata out as INDICA and INDIGO are bread and butter of TATA..

That would be around 50k on top of similar Indigo models available in the market. But its a new models, with more features and people would prefer to pay this difference.

Though, Indigo may still hold the upper hand with the 'taxi' market, on account of cheap prices.

I sincerely hope that the Logan does not have a base ex-showroom price of 5 lakhs; thats too much for the base petrol. Considering that the diesel will be atleast 60000 - 70000 more, you are looking at an almost 6.5 lac on the road price in Mumbai for the diesel Logan. Too much for a car whose hype is a low price, limited brand recognition (renault) and a limited urban dealer network (Mahindra). I dont know how well the petrol will sell as there are already plentiful entry-level petrol sedans available (Esteem, Ikon etc). The Logans advantage will be that its a modern design and that will have inherent advantages in terms of ride quality, space, safety etc.

A 5 lac price for the base-diesel will, however, turn some tables. Actually, it will be war.

I completely agree with GTO! Let the war begin...and let Logan shout it out to the world...

The Diesel version of this car might replace my Ikon as a daily driver.

Would you really say the ride quality will be that good? will it equal that of say the likes of palio? or other bigger cars? Also reviews point out that the noise levels are high within the logan. i can understand that fact maybe becuase logan is a cheap car. What you do feel about this point? Other than that I feel logan has a good chance vis-a-vis the others.

Has anyone had a look at the specs of wheelbase and width of the logan,
The wheelbase reads 2630 mm for the logan sedan and a width of 1735 mm(again for the logan sedan),compare this to the toyota corolla wheelbase = 2600 mm and width = 1705 mm.

Does this mean more/similar interior space to the toyota corolla.
