Audi Q3 & Q7 Design Editions launched

Audi has launched the Q3 and Q7 Design Editions in India. Both models get minor exterior changes and added features. The Q3 Design Edition costs Rs. 40.76 lakh while the Q7 is priced from Rs. 82.37 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Audi Q3 Design Edition gets clear tail lamps, quattro film set and quattro entry lights. The SUV also gets Nappa leather seats, a coat hanger and key cover in exterior body colour.

Powering the Q3 Design Edition is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 181 BHP @ 3,500-4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 380 Nm @ 1,750-3,250 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The Audi Q7 Design Edition is available in two variants - 40 TFSI and 45 TDI. It gets smoked tail lamps, Audi logo decal on the D-pillar and Audi Cool bag. Rear seat entertainment is also offered on the Q7 Design Edition. The Q7 40 TFSI is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 248 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 370 Nm @ 1,600-4,500 rpm. The 45 TDI variant comes equipped with a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine that produces 245 BHP @ 2,910-4,500 rpm and 600 Nm @ 1,250-3,000 rpm. Both engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

I can see the allure in the rear seat entertainment package offered in the Q7. Other than that, I see little reason in going for this variant over the others. I mean, what am I supposed to do with the Audi Cool bag? I mean, I know what it does, but why?

That logo decal is quite tacky and not fitting with a 85 lakh rupee car. Usually seen on cars of other brands that are aspiring to be Audis.

Also not sure how this even higher priced Q3 helps in sales. 40 lakhs for a somewhat dated small SUV is really taking some liberties!

Audi is learning well from MBIL to get useless launches out. The Q3 gets Nappa leather for the first time which is the only noteworthy addition. The Q7 additions are hopeless.
