There are only 3 cars each currently planned for the Alpha and Omega platforms. The Alpha platform has the 45X, the CSUV and the sedan, while the Omega has the Harrier, the H7X and a large/luxury sedan. The Alpha platform will keep its length restricted to 4000mm while the Omega is larger. The current Nexon is also powered by a 1.2L, so is the 45X. If you notice the 45X, it's roughly the size of an i20. The Ignis is smaller than the Tiago by 50+ mm. The video of the range of cars on both platforms shows that the Hornbill is taller than the 45X, which brings it up to the Nexon. If the Nexon continues to sell well, there's no reason for Tata to hurry with the Hornbill. So, it's at least 2 years away. Last edited by discoverwild : 4th January 2019 at 18:45.

Infractions: 0/2 (9) | ![]() Concept to be seen at the Geneva show, so 20 days to go. Tata is rumoured to have lined up quite a few concepts hinting at their upcoming new model onslaught. Traditionally the company has mastered the art of WOW concepts like no other Indian manufacturer, but then mostly failed to deliver in production form. Hoping for a turn around this time. With the Hornbill, 7 seat SUV, Aquila, sedan etc lined up, Geneva is a mouth watering appetizer before the mains. |

| ![]() If you look at Maruti, they have multiple products in the same segment. Like wise, I would think having another compact SUV in the under 4m SUV segment can work for Tata. The hornbill, if positioned between the new premium hatch back and the Nexon, it can shake up the market quite a bit. And Tata should also look at another SUV offering between the Nexon and the Harrier. There is a big gap between those two. |

| ![]() I second this opinion. The size should be similar to Creta/S-Cross and price between 10 to 15 Lakhs on road. I would also like to see a 7 seater MUV more or less with the same criteria, competing with Ertiga/Marazzo, to fill the gap left by Sumo Grande. |

| ![]() ![]() First Teaser of Hornbill is out . Tata Motors states : “Outstanding in quality, muscular but athletic, agile and sporty. Future design direction from Impact 2.0 design language at #GIMS2019." Hornbill seems to be more muscular than Nexon and sporting a DRL-Headlight combination similar to Harrier. ![]() |

| ![]() Hornbill a.k.a H2X walk around video. This looks really promising. A mini-Harrier ![]() At 3800mm+ this will be bigger than both KUV and Ignis. And if it's launched in 2020, I guess it would come with BS-VI engines. As per the reviewers, Tata says production version would be 80% of this, that would mean just like harrier the production version would look closer to this concept. ![]() P.S: Hope this doesn't end up overdone like the Altroz Last edited by SoumenD : 5th March 2019 at 19:39. |

| ![]() A Wild thought! ![]() What if TATA made the H2X or HORNBILL like the Suzuki Jimny? I am sure most here are smitten by the Suzuki Jimny & in their heart, would like to own one just for the wow factor & the fact that it can be a fun to drive, go-anywhere attitude, compact footprint, bonus of 4x4, etc My wishlist would be: (1) Body on Frame (not going to happen) (2) 3 Door (not going to happen) (3) Rear wheel drive with proper low range transfer case for 4x4 (not going to happen, but they can do AWD like in Hexa) (4) Manual transmission (definitely can do) (5) A high torque engine without turbo (definitely can do, turbo means lag which is bad for off-roading) (6) Squared off exterior design (definitely can do, as is evident from the concept, which is brilliant) (7) Funky colous for the exterior & colour coordinated interior trim bits. Did I say ![]() This is what I am talking about https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&sour...=1551848534037 |

1. He says the platform is designed to be 5 star NCAP. Stresses if there are stars we want all 5 of it going forward. Appreciate that Mr.Bose ![]() 2. They are targeting Delhi auto-expo 2020 to showcase production version. 3.Points out sunroof is a possibility as it's market demand but adds he himself isn't sure why would people need it in India. Couldn't agree more ![]() Last edited by SoumenD : 6th March 2019 at 18:02.
