I really hope that it is going to be the new HBX, but this particular line makes me feel that it could also be the Tata Tiago NRG facelift.

‘Seriously fun’ is a tag line that Tata uses for Tiago ad campaigns, and the words ‘tough’ and ‘sporty’ could simply mean that the Tiago NRG/cross, which was discontinued with the facelift, is being launched again.

I seriously doubt this news. It talks of a sporty and tough " version " so most likely an existing car. Tiago NRG maybe? I spoke to the sales rep at Tata and he was unaware of any new announcement. As per him HBX is ready for launch since May but company has not notified anything about it.

Edit: Just saw Sanidhyas post. I'm only more convinced

Do automakers still keep testing the car a few days prior to launch?A HBX test mule was just spotted recently. Also a launch as big as the HBX,TATA would have released a lot of teasers

It definitely isn't for the HBX launch. Tata is known for creating hype before launches. (And sometimes criticised for overhyping) There's no way they are going to launch such a significant product without any teasers.

A paint job shouldn’t require a test mule… it’s likely a bait opportunity for auto jouros to have a scoop article that screams “test mule spotted…close to production specs!” and publish some juicy pictures to bump their marketing.

It is Tiago NRG.
HBX will be launched a month after it i.e. around mid September IFF Covid situation doesn't get worse again.

Almost a month ago when I visited a Tata dealership for enquiring about Nexon I also tried to prod the SA about HBX launch, to my surprise the SA was very quick and certain in his answer (unlike queries about Nexon) that HBX as per the current information conveyed to them will not come in 2021 it will launch sometime at the start of 2022, Tata has multiple other products aligned for launch before it.

In my opinion this confirms that Tiago NRG, Altroz EV, some new variant of Safari (test mules) would probably launch before HBX. However if it is true then Tata does not have any new car slated for launch in festive season which is also odd. Tata could be waiting for Casper to launch first though in order to place HBX correctly.

On a side note SA also mentioned that Hexa will come back but only for military orders.

Agree with you all... CNB says that Tata Tiago NRG Facelift will be the one to be launched on August 4, 2021. In all possibility, it may be true.

So finally it's the launch of Tiago NRG on 4th of August. Had to be the launch of NRG as launching HBX before it is kind of cannibalizing it's product.

This news comes as a heartbreak for me as I was waiting for this product since very long time as it is perfect for my city use and a good replacement for my 2 decade old Lancer.

I just wonder that as the 1st batch of HBX is ready what are they waiting for or even that news is for Tata Tiago NRG and not for HBX.

So the NRG (cross hatch version) of Tiago is coming back in its updated avatar. Hope Tata Motors gives proper alloy wheels on NRG this time unlike the first one.

The current Tiago petrol engine/AMT gearbox combo is a serious laggard. Hope TML rectified this. If it does then Tata dealers have another runaway success in their hands.
