An interesting conundrum is in case the Turbo is indeed 120bhp unit as speculated, will the Creta and more so the upcoming SP2i not then carry inferior engines, despite being higher priced? For reference, the 'new' 1.5 petrol engine that will debut with SP2 will make around 115bhp.

Another observation from the carwow video is that the 3 cylinder turbo makes quilte a racket!

Add another feature, which would be icing on the cake - Paddle shift.

Paddle shifters would be more practical in City as well as highway traffic. Usage of Sunroof would be limited, but Paddle shift can be used regularly.

These are the figures I've seen in other media reports as well.

I'm very disappointed that they've not tuned this engine to 120 PS (like in Kona) but to 100 PS (like in international i20), but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed hoping it performs well with DCT.

Re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

I saw the same Carlino test mule yesterday early morning around MG Road, Gurgaon. I couldn't click any pics as I was in the opposite direction. However, the car looks pretty compact. Somehow, I have a feeling that it won't have that butch image even by compact SUV standards.

Re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

About the performance, the closest analogy I've been able to draw is with the Kia Stonic which is offered with the same 1.0 T-GDI engine paired with 7-speed DCT (Kona is not offered with this combination, and i20 is lighter). Stonic is offered with 120 PS of power though.

I see some not-so-bad performance numbers for the Stonic; 0-100 in 10 seconds with a kerb weight of 1238 kg. Venue will be lighter than the Stonic, win for us!

Re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

Looks a lot like the XUV 300 - the flat and wide front end, the angular wedge shapes on the sides towards the back, the sloping roof and c-pilllar shape are all very closely tied. The rear overhang is also miniscule just like the XUV.

Korean companies seem to be much better at exchanging ideas with each other

- Pricing will be bang in the XUV300/EcoSport range. Base E variant might start at 8.09L with the top SX(O) diesel at 12.19L, with the 1.0L DCT priceed close to the SX(O) diesel (~12L). All ex-showroom, Delhi.

Thanks to my birdies.
Impressive feature list! And even the pricing seems alright. But, going by the initial pictures on Page 10, we couldn't spot the rear washer-wiper. That car had a Turbo badge, which means it is indeed the SX(O) trim. Does that mean this supposed 'SUV' won't get rear washer-wiper? Or are they going to be concealed under the spoiler (similar to Range Rovers?)?

I hope to have missed something here, because if Hyundai isn't going to offer option of rear wash-wipe in a premium car, it will turn off many potential buyers (including myself).

Somehow i find the overall stance and the silhouette of the Venue very similar to the Brezza. If we mask the face, it would be very hard to tell them apart ?
The grill on the other hand looks very um, weird if i put it mildly ! Very similar designs to cheese graters and some old school iron gates !

Also this new trend of DRLs on the top might not look very good on compact CUVs as they dont have a substantial presence compared to say a Harrier which has a high bonnet line.

Re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

Select Hyundai dealerships have begun accepting bookings for the Venue compact SUV for an amount of Rs 50,000.

In the run-up to its launch in mid-May, Hyundai dealerships have begun unofficially accepting bookings for the new Venue compact SUV for a booking amount of Rs 50,000.

The SUV will be revealed on April 17 in India and in New York simultaneously, showing just how important the model is for the Korean brand

Re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

A turbo petrol and a dual clutch automatic. Nice work from Hyundai. Did not expect them to do that considering they were running with the 4 speed AT even in the Verna till very recently. So now they have cars with AMT, CVT , DCT and Torque Converter. Very interesting.

This may hit the Ecosport and even the Nexon hard.

You would actually not buy a car if it does not offer rear windscreen wiper ? Am sure it won't be a majority who would decide based on this.
