Is this really sub-4m? Looks to have the road presence of a Creta.

Brezza and Nexon needs to watch out for sure.

Re: On Hyundai's all-new Compact SUV

Seems this compact SUV has taken the design cues from Creta. I am unable to find any resemblance with the concept shown during auto expo or I am missing something here.

Anyway, expect Hyundai to lauch this compact SUV with new 1.5 litre petrol and diesel engines.
With this new entry in compact SUV segment, things will get better to consumers and will give sleepless nights for competitors.

Looks like the thin LED strips in the usual headlamp place is the new design trend.

Harrier, KIA SP and now this.

Wonder how do these Engineers (presumably working in different parts of the world) come up with look alike designs?

Before all these - Hyundai already had the SantaFe and Kona already with this design trend. They are just adopting it for models lower down the price range now.

Yep. You are right.

Kona and Santa Fe made their debut in early 2018.

But I presume all these 4 vehicles would have been on the drawing board probably in 2016 and what I was wondering is how is that TATA's design engineers working out of UK/India and as well KIA/Hyundai engineers working out of Korea/India could come up with a similar looking designs.

To make it clear : I dint say that Hyundai was "inspired" by designs from KIA/TATA. Maybe it's the other way around.

The roof rails and the tyres (are they 205 section ones?) are giving it a huge road presence similar to that of Creta. However, they need to bring in 1.5 L Petrol engine at least, that 1.2 L is lazy even for i20. Hyundai is known for good interior quality and this should also be no exception. Hope, they launch it earlier to get a pie in the growing Compact SUV segment. Jeep, are you listening?

Re: On Hyundai's all-new Compact SUV

I see another massive hit in the hands of Hyundai !
Its got a proper SUV stance and profile. It looks athletic.
Hyundai is known for good interiors, fantastic diesel motors and good after sales.

Oh boy do we have a winner or what !

re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

Autocar reports that this will have the new set of euro VI 1.5L diesel engines which produces around 115bhp. if its true, I would suspect hyundai to use the same AT gearbox as in Creta than an AMT

Hyundai's Sub compact SUV spied on test a few kms away from the Hyundai India plant in Chennai.

Quote:
Hyundai SUV could get its power via a 1.0 liter T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine and an all new 1.5 liter diesel engine. The 1.0 liter turbo engine is already on offer with i20 in certain countries. It delivers 120 PS. The diesel engine specs too are expected to be in the 115 PS / 250 Nm range

Well, I guess, the granddaddy of such split headlight design is the Pontiac Aztec. Then came the fifth gen Jeep Cherokee. And now Hyundai and Tata seem to have taken the baton further. The design has evolved, and with the introduction of LED DRLs, the layout looks much better.

re: The Hyundai Venue SUV (aka Carlino)

The Brezza and Ecosport will surely face the heat if this launches. Add diesel and petrol ATs (proper ATs) into the mix, and you've got a few key differentiators as well. What with Ecosport only having a petrol AT and Marutis being wedded to AMTs.

The Creta's brand strength is likely to rub off much more easily when applied half a segment down as opposed to segments above. Can't wait for the launch.

If and when this comes, maybe automatics on this will be AMT and not AT. Mr Y K Koo, CEO of Hyundai India had hinted that AMT is currently planned only for the small car, but upto i20 could be considered at a later stage.

In terms of Premium feel, this should sit below i20 or same level as i20. So we never know. Santro will be the deciding factor to evaluate the efficiency of Hyundai AMT's.
