Not too enthusiastic about the pricing, considering there are more powerful options available at a similar price point - like the Ford Freestyle for instance.
Well said, i think Hyundai went a little optimistic with the pricing. I will not call this pricing aggressive but ok-ish. The difference between petrol and Diesel variants is about ~85k. I am unable to gauge if diesel is VFM or petrol is pricier.

The AMT premium is also pretty high. I remember when Celerio AMT was launched, the delta was just 37k (which is what AMT deserves).

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

Launching a BS-4 Diesel car at the 11th hour of its expiry period clearly indicates that Hyundai has a BS-6-compliant Diesel version ready to launch on Apr 2020. Others like Maruti are stopping the BS-4 Diesels now and the new launch like XL6 is Petrol-only, which clearly says otherwise.

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

Petrol sports AMT is 8.5L OTR in Bangalore. The older grand i10 with the TC box retailed at around 8.7L OTR earlier this year & after discounts was/is available at 7.5-7.7L, absolute steal.

Wasn't AMT model supposed to be cheaper? But if Maruti can get away with AMTs at 9-10L(swift/Dzire), why not Hyundai. Come to think of it where has the market reached over last few years. A million bucks can only fetch you a small car now

Damn!!! And I was fretting over spending 10.7L on a Jazz CVT.

This is a smart way of managing introductory prices and inventory of BS-4 engines.

Instead of providing a discount on an existing car, Hyundai can use the initial hype around the new launch to clear its inventory of BS-4 diesel engines. Later, when the car is upgraded to BS-6 engines, they can increase the price. The consumer also benefits, since there is an engine upgrade.

Not sure why has Hyundai launched a BS4 diesel engine and that too with an AMT variant only, what are they thinking ..! The pricing seems to be on the steeper side especially on the top two trims.

It is quite optimistic for Hyundai to claim the prices as introductory only, well we will know it in couple of month's time. Personally, I don’t like the large newly designed grill either, it looks ugly especially in lighter shades.

Oops. i just thought they had launched the diesel in BS6. But then the prices for the new car are similar to that of the older generation or a mild increase. But the older car was sold on discounts. Every month it had discounts ranging from Rs.60000 to Rs.90000, so if we consider this, the newer car is actually more expensive by around 1.3Lakhs as of now!

Those buying the lower variants of the Nios can even get an Asta variant of the Grand i10, as per an ad today, the Grand i10 is available at a discount of Rs.1.2Lakhs, which makes it a better deal, and stocks are plenty in dealerships.

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

The Ignis in the Sigma trim is refined and makes more sense than going in for the Nios. In a market that's scratching the bottom Hyundai has gone ahead and launched a hatch with the same old engines with some very "optimistic" pricing.

re: The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, now launched at Rs 5 lakhs

By launching limited variants of the Nios in its diesel avatar and with huge gaps in prices, Hyundai has kept the slots empty for more variants to which will eventually launch with the BS6 diesel variant. This will also make sure that they get away with price increase since they may shuffle features in mid variants to look like the price increase is justified.

However, the way car prices have increased is crazy. For comparison sakes, I got my 2011 i20 Sportz Petrol variant at 6.2L on road in Hyderabad. The only notable features that my i20 doesn't have are projector headlamps, passenger airbag and that touch screen. However the i20 is a segment above the Nios. Even more reason to hold on to my car for even longer.
