Here is an interesting comparison among the similar offerings by Rushlane: https://www.rushlane.com/new-tata-ti...-12281037.html

It looks like apart from the pricing, Ford Freestyle wins against its rivals hands down on the other aspects such as fun as well as the feature.

re: The Tata Tiago NRG, now launched

I feel Tata has a good chance with this product if they make 3 small improvements:
1. Tigor spec petrol engine (or even a Nexon spec petrol engine)
2. AMT option
3. Split folding rear seats

I guess you wanted to write Zest spec Petrol Engine, Tigor and Tiago share their engines with the same specifications!!

Completely agree with you on the other 2 points. Add to that a Rear Camera as well, already the Tigor's ICE supports it.

What is a smart rear wiper? Is it just a new jargon or something really new? Otherwise the car looks good.

EDIT:

No, the Tigor engine is also slightly different. It has balancer shaft which Tiago lacks.

Smart Rear Wiper means if your Front Wipers are on, and you stop and engage the Reverse Gear, the Rear Wiper will automatically switch on to improve rear visibility. It switches off when you shift from Reverse to 1st.

Okay, I didn't check for that difference, but I guess the Zest's Engines will definitely give this car a character of it's own, and Tiago/Tigor JTP editions can make do with the Nexon's engines. So, 3 different type of vehicles with 3 different engine properties catering to different types of customers.

I guess that has been included as well, excerpt from the Safety section:
"Park Assist with rear sensors and display"
So for a premium of around 30k over the regular Tiago, I think this is very well-kitted and a good option in this price bracket.

re: The Tata Tiago NRG, now launched

Ford Freestyle trumps here specially the 1.5 diesel. The Oomph of 1.5 litre diesel mill is way better compared to competition.

If I am in the market at this time, Tiago NRG will not make a cut.

Ford gives a lot more value for money !!

No it is like in the normal Tiago XZ, the display shows the green yellow red distance on the screen, not the video images at the back. Do check the launch videos and compare the features in the NRH with the Rigor brochure

re: The Tata Tiago NRG, now launched

18mm increase in width. Is it because of the cladding or there's actually some increase in shoulder space?

So for ~30k what does this get more compared to tiago XZ?

1. High GC
2. Touchscreen

Considering how important high GC is becoming these days, this price difference seems legit. Only thing remaining is the AMT variant. Hope this adds decent numbers and Tata launches the auto variant soon.

That wheel cap looks nice. Thought it was an alloy until I zoomed in. Excellent execution

I doubt having so many engines will make any business sense. Maruti sells loads of Swift's, but they don't even want to bring in a 1.4L boosterjet. TATA is anyway bringing the JTP version with the Nexon tune - that makes two types of engines and clearly demarcates between the average Joe and an enthusiast.

Except for the 4 cylinder thing, don't think the Zest petrol is any good. Probably 60% (or even 80) of the buying population wouldn't even know the engine spec or don't bother. And that'll be too much of an overhead for TATA especially when they are coming back to track.

That as per the brochure attached in my post above is a 14" DuraAlloy and not a wheelcap. Maybe someone who has seen the car can confirm this..

Ain't that an alloy? It certainly looks like one. I tried zooming in further on the image you shared and it clearly looks like an alloy and not wheel caps.

Either you shared a different picture than you intended to share or you got it wrong.

re: The Tata Tiago NRG, now launched

The prices of base trims are higher than freestyle's base trims. I don't think it can even be called a competition to the freestyle. Freestyle is a more mature and serious product.

Well I believed this video and it seemed believable when zoomed in. He claims it to be a steel wheel, which I thought is a whell cap rather than an alloy . Or am I missing something?

It's a screenshot from the above video. So I shared exactly what I intended to. Maybe you can recheck once.

If it's indeed an alloy even better
