According to a media report, Jeep is likely to launch a new variant of the Compass called the Limited Plus next month.

The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs-compass-lim-plus.jpg

The Limited Plus is expected to be positioned above the current top-spec Limited trim. A spy image indicates that the Limited Plus variant is likely to get a dual-tone exterior with chrome trim and dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV is likely to get a panoramic sunroof as well.

On the inside, the Limited Plus variant will reportedly get an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as power adjustable driver and front passenger seats. Features such as dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags and rain-sensing wipers are likely to be offered as standard.

Reports suggest that the Limited Plus variant will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 160 BHP and 250 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit that makes 171 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. Both engines are likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

I see dummy buttons on the steering wheel which means still no cruise control :Frustrati. A big bummer considering the cruising capabilities of this vehicle. Why can't they launch a true top end variant?

By adding a few nifty features and getting in a new Top End version (at an estimated extra 1.5Lacs), Jeep seems to be cleverly creating a ground for bringing in the TrailHawk variant at a much higher price point, without making people feel it is high priced compared to other variants. My guess is that addition of Cruise Control, 9speed Auto and the Trailhawk system, may again push the price upwards by around 1 lac.

Folks may see that as an acceptable increment to pay for compared to Limited Plus rather than a near 3 lacs increment over the Limited.

I may be wrong and Jeep may yet surprise us by giving the TrailHawk in a much more reasonable price range and hopefully launch it with the Sport or Longitude variants as well.

On the Limited Plus, it looks like they are continuing with the White / Beige interior combination. Does this variant come with the HID lamps as found in the Limited (O)?

Cheers,
Uday

  • Panoramic Sunroof
  • Electric Front Seats
  • Bigger 8.4 " Touchscreen HU
  • New Design Alloys
  • Black Roof Option

Whatever others might feel, the panaromic sun roof is just drool worthy! Pity i had missed this on my endeavour.

And do i see automatic head lamps, wipers and powered lumbar support buttons too!

The wheels seems to have been upsized to 18/19 inchers and the overall look & stance is very international and 'Imported' quality :thumbs up

This is the actual EU spec Jeep Compass Limited with all the options ticked, minus the Cruise Control (which is available here in Belgium). I know this because we're in the market for a new car, and the Jeep Compass is one of the contenders.

Here's a picture along with the link to my configuration of the Jeep Compass :D

I feel Jeep Compass is fast losing its value proposition. The launch price of the Compass itself was not a great value for money deal but it did make a reasonable case for itself with a macho look, good engines, robust build and the Jeep Brand. But it left out pretty standard features which is expected in the segment and price. Now, they are introducing these features in another variant with a steep price increase. I don't think it is making sense and the way the Compass sales are declining, Jeep India should be worried. Looks like Jeep is not able to capitalize to the hype generated initially and going on a downward spiral. Hope, they course correct soon.

Wait around guys, you will shortly get the upgrade for 50 k offer on this Limited Plus trim. There are very few takers for the 4*4 and Jeep will struggle to sell this at a 1.5 lakh premium over the Limited(O) 4*4.

The Limited(O) costs close to 28 lakhs OTR in Bangalore. The Limited Plus will be close to 30 lakhs, this without an automatic is not going to find takers(Tucson GL automatic is 29 lakhs). For some reason I get the feeling that they are trying to compete with the Tucson pricing, they need to be aware that Hyundai is probably happy to sell just 150 copies a month, but it is bread and butter for FCA.

At this rate, the Trailhawk will enter the Endevour territory( which I think is far superior ) and at those price points a few lakhs here and there will not matter. Majority of customers would not care for the 4*4 and may just find the bigger 2WD Endevour better for practicality and bragging rights.

I was recently talking to friend and asking him to upgrade to a Compass Limited (O) 4*4 and the immediate response was " why not the top spec automatic Crysta "

Looks to be based a 2WD. There is no 4×4 badging on the left side as is the case with the current Limited(o).

Thanks. You seem right. I guess it will be positioned above the Limited(O) both in front wheel drive and the 4*4.

I am told the new wheels are 18 inchers and Limited plus is available only in 4x2 version. That means even the new top end will continue to miss 6 airbags!

Just read on Autocar.com that FCA will reveal the prices for the Jeep Limited Plus variant tomorrow (Sep 20) and deliveries will start from Oct. Apparently the dates have been brought forward in view of the interest this variant generated online.

I hope they price it at a sensible increment on the Limited (O) for the additional features and not get too greedy.

Cheers
Uday

I think Cruise control make more sense than the 18 inch wheels. Even Toyota is adding cruise control to lower variants nowadays !
