Hyundai slashes prices in TN- VAT Effect

Hyundai slashes car prices in Tamil Nadu

Implementation of VAT in Tamilnadu has resulted in reduction of car prices. Hyundai has cut prices of its cross across all segment. Good that Verna CRDI will be cheaper by 8K & sonato MT by 9k.

At worst, you guys will still be paying the original rate inclusive of the price hike. Rest of us folks will have to pay an upped price with the hike. So - TN folks : you can still enjoy your cars more than other Indians.

Wanted to book 2 Verna CRDI (company booking). They said net price increase for Verna CRDI is Rs.6k.

When I explained them saying the VAT reduction accounts to 8K & the price increase announced by Hyundai is Rs.10k, hence the net increase should only be Rs.2K.

They don't have answers and simply say the amount of increase is from Hyundai after doing all such calculations. But they were not ready to explain how those calculations were made. Atleast wanted to understand where that extra 4k goes.

Probably into the dealers pants. Whenever a tax cut happens, the dealers are behind the mfr to pass the difference to them, sometimes a percentage & sometimes the whole of it.
